'One of the greatest achievements in comedy. A work of staggering genius' – David WalliamsGorgeous 42nd Anniversary gift edition of Douglas Adams's pop-culture classic, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, stunningly illustrated throughout by Costa Award-winner Chris Riddell. It's an ordinary Thursday lunchtime for Arthur Dent until his house gets demolished. The Earth follows shortly afterwards to make way for a new hyperspace express route, and Arthur's best friend has just announced that he's an alien. At this moment, they're hurtling through space with nothing but their towels and a book inscribed in large, friendly letters: DON'T PANIC.The book is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the weekend has only just begun . . .Douglas Adams's mega-selling pop-culture classic sends logic into orbit, plays havoc with physics and twists time, but most importantly it's very, very funny. Review: Picture illustration is awesome Review: Vocabulary - Quality is good .But tough vocabulary so not recommended for kids age (14-15)

good quality print. nice illustrations. no complaints on the book. 4 stars beccause i was really expecting more illustrations. but don't buy from this seller. packaging was non existent. just the book wrapped with the amazon paper bag...the cover got nicked in a couple of spots because of the lack of protection.

Hyped but hopeless
This book is hyped a lot .. personally I couldn't decipher how this book did justice to humour satire or fiction .

Earth is “harmless” .. mostly!
For starters, amazing piece of work. It’s a sarcastic take on how life is conducted even a gazillion miles away from earth and not to mention Earth is “harmless” .. sorry “mostly harmless” 😂

5/5 stars – a thoughtful illustrated edition that enhances an already exceptional book
I bought the illustrated edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy expecting a novelty companion to a familiar text, but it stands comfortably as a definitive physical version of the novel. Douglas Adams’s writing remains sharply paced and intellectually playful, balancing absurdist humour with surprisingly durable philosophical ideas, and it reads just as well now as it ever did. The layout is clear, the print is crisp, and the book has enough physical presence to feel like a deliberate, well-produced edition rather than a simple reissue. Chris Riddell’s illustrations add genuine value rather than distraction, complementing the tone of the narrative without overinterpreting it. They appear at measured intervals, enhancing character and atmosphere while leaving space for the reader’s imagination, which is crucial for a book so reliant on wit and timing. As an object, it works equally well as a gift or a personal reread, and as a reading experience it reinforces why this remains one of the most enduring works of comic science fiction. It is not just a nostalgic purchase, but a carefully considered edition that respects both the text and the reader.
