i couldnt find this anywhere else!
The product isn't what's being reviewed here because it is a standard part of the SLIK tripod I bought. What is being reviewed is the fact that this little piece, which screws into the bottom of your camera, is absolutely mandatory for the proper functioning of a tripod. If you cannot secure the camera to the tripod in a stable way when taking a time exposure then why even bother with a tripod? The problem is that this little piece can easily get lost. Once it is screwed into the camera, when you dismount the cameraandshoe from the tripod at the same time, and set the camera aside, you can just go on using the camera with the shoe on it and forget to put the shoe back onto the tripod. Later, when you want to change a battery or a chip in the computer, you take it off and set it on a shelf. Put in a new battery -- and off you go, leaving the shoe on the shelf and not being able to find it ever again. So, what happens when you lose the shoe? Buy a whole new tripod? If it weren't for Amazon, that is what I would have had to do. I called countless camera stores. No one had it. I went to Fry's Electronic store. They had a shoe, but it didn't fit my tripod. I went back to the store where I bought the tripod. They had more inexpenswive ($45 range) tripods, but NOT more shoes. I looked up SLIK. They have the shoe on there, but won't sell it to you or tell you where to get it. I looked at Target, Sears, Circuit City, Best, and various other big box stores. Only place I could find it was Amazon. So, a big YAY for Amazon!!! Little widgets like this make the world go around. Along with nails, screws, nuts, bolts, Scotch tape and duct tape. Hooray and thank you. I bought four of them because, ditz that I am, I probably will lose a tripod shoe again, at some point, and now I will have another one to back it up!

IT WORKS!
Came quickly - fits perfectly - arrived in original packaging. It helps to do your research so there are no unexpected surprises. In my case, I was given a tripod with a quick release head but no quick release. Tripod model number was all I needed to choose the right one. Super service!!

Goody For Me.
So my company throws out a tripod, why? Because it is lacking this part. No hunting or fishing finds it so it sits around until During spring clean up last year at work they decided to toss it out. Well having a flash back to my dumpster diving days I descided to keep it. And let it sat in my Garage for a year. :-) I was about to toss it out too, then I thought wonder if I can find this stupid part ???. Ebay, no luck, local camera shops just laughed and tried to sell me a new trip pod. Then I recalled finding a part for my Xbox that was rare but common on Amazon, Still stuck thinking Amazon is for books right? Bought this, fits like a charm, well built and now I have a nice 100.00+ tripod for about 10.00 investment and was free shipping " wow ". Moral of this story if its missing a part try Amazon.
