Is this product ideal for dirt floor in crawl space?

I used it for concrete floor and laminate floors. Not sure about dirt floor. I would suggest you call the manufactures customer support.

Can you use this with felt for under wood floors?

If by felt you mean moisture-proof paper, yes

How is this different than something like a 6 Mil plastic sheet available from home depot?

As I recall, there wasn't much difference other than the price. At the time, this product was cheaper. Worked great for me when I installed my floor.

Can this be installed as vapor barrier for a shower wall?

That's what I used it for. Very good product and worth it for the extra protection.
