Our filters have a polypropylene cage that’s BPA, BPS, and phthalate free. The mesh is made from stainless steel, and the seal is silicone.

Is this dishwasher safe?

Thank you for reaching out to ESPRO! To extend their lifespan, after each use we recommend hand washing your French press and filters over putting them in the dishwasher. I've used this a few times and noticed the plunger doesn't go all the way to the bottom. Is this by design?

Thank you for reaching out to ESPRO! The engineers kept that clearance at the bottom of the press to maintain room for the coffee grounds to settle at the bottom and to create a physical barrier between the grounds and the good coffee above. That barrier stops the brewing process as soon as you press the plunger, which means your coffee won’t get over-extracted and bitter. A side effect of that design is there will be some liquid trapped in the bottom of the press along with the coffee grounds. To capture the last bit of liquid in your ESPRO press that’s trapped below the filter (once your press is emptied of brewed coffee): try lifting the plunger, tilting your press to pour out, and pressing the plunger carefully while pouring. This allows you to access the ‘inaccessible’ liquid. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
