## Description

Proudly Made in Singapore One of the Best Sambal Belacan In Singapore Fragrant Spicy chilli with Shrimp Paste. Used mainly as a condiment and dip for chilli lovers! A concoction of chilies and spices found in Southeast Asia Southeast Asia's version of Sriracha sauce Unit count type: Ounce

Review: Intense - I used to live near an awesome Indonesian restaurant and really missed their fried rice after I moved away. I have since frequently been trying to make it at home but have always felt like the taste was a bit one dimensional. The shrimp paste component in particular is the key umami flavor that I was missing the entire time, so I would absolutely consider this an essential thing to stock in your pantry if you want to properly replicate the flavors of many of your favorite southeast asian dishes at home. I should add that the flavor is nothing like the standard sambal oelek you will find in most stores. In addition to the added depth of flavor that comes from the shrimp paste, it is much, MUCH hotter. I would dare say a spoonful of this stuff might even give a bowl of the 2x spicy korean fire noodles a run for their money, so it might be too much for someone with little tolerance to hot and spicy foods, but for me that's just another reason to love it. The only real con this is rather pricey considering the rather small size of the jar.
Review: Good and spicy in large amounts - I had no clue what this was when I ordered it. I just heard that shrimp paste was supposed to taste good. I didn't realize it was fermented or that it would have a weird (to me) smell to it. To someone not familiar to it it can be a bit offputting, but after putting it in some stirfry I was hooked. I really like the flavor, but it can be really easy to overpower the food so I take care now to add a little at a time. Glad I gave it a try.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Sambal Belacan in All of the United States!
*by X***Y on March 25, 2026*

It's impossible to find real Singapore Sambal Belacan here in the United States, and I am more than happy to be able to get this on Amazon! Price is fair, knowing how expensive it is to ship anything from Singapore here, not to mention Singapore's cost of business is many times more than her neighbours in Southeast Asia. In exchange, what you get is guaranteed quality and the confidence that the product is manufactured with an accute focus on industry standards, ie near-zero risk of food-poisoning. You can make your own for much cheaper, of course, like I once did and risk your neighbours calling the Fire Department like mine did. This was in Brooklyn; yes, Captain America's Brooklyn. And they almost broke my apartment door down! Deserves 5 stars, but left out one star to motivate Taho to put more sambal and more belacan in! Side note - can also be added to soup, or ramen. A tiny tip of the teaspoon for your individual serving goes a long way, esp if you're new to this.
