It would be OK for jackets (no stretch humps) or small women and children.However, 15.5" will hang a normal adults sweater- and leave it with big stretch humps half-way from the neck to the shoulder.For comparison, I measured my normal plastic hangers and they are around 17 inches wide.I measured a couple sweaters (Medium & Large) and found I need more like 18-20 inches wide to reach the shoulder seams. You can check yours.So hey, another reason to use duct tape.See my photo- to test this, I extended the width with a couple of ubiquitous cardboard tubes (from TP rolls) to make it wider. Worked fine. Now my sweaters hang on the shoulder seams- no more stretch humps. Which is what I bought these for.4 stars as it is what was advertised and item seems good enough (I just didn't measure beforehand).Do whatever works for you. If you are allergic to duct tape (or mods) I suggest a different item if you want to hang adult sweaters.

Extremely happy as soon as I saw these. They are well-made, sturdy wide, smoothly finished and have a couple of features designed to stop lightweight and silky garments slipping off. They also have small hooks under the shoulder area for very slim straps. I am a petite size and the 15 ins width allows my size 4 jackets, and XS clothes to fit on them perfectly without stretching the shoulders. They also swivel fully on their hooks. Highly recommend them.

These hangers are well made, and they feel as sturdy as wood hangers. They seem like they would be durable too, but I have not had them long. Unfortunately, they won't work for me. I was planning to use 3 for them for coats and use the rest for my shirts. They work well for the coats, but the curve does not work well for the shirts. (My shirts are dressy t-shirts not cotton button-down shirts.) Also, the hangers do not fit in my individual garment bags because of the curve in them. I wish I could buy a set of only 3 or even 6 of these hangers for my coats.

The bottom of the hangers aren’t smooth. They try to catch on my tops. Could be a problem with certain fabrics if I’m not careful. I wish they were a little wider since I’m plus size and wear mostly wider neck lines.

I am petite woman and my jackets of course are on the small side and these hangers are perfect.

Wonderful product and a great value comparing to other hangers I've had to replace in such short times. I've ordered several more sets and replacing all hangers so everything matches. I added shoulder grips to keep items from slipping and added clothing protectors for out of season clothes. Wonderful Hangers !!!
