Girl of Mine

The words, the illustrations and the expression of love are all great!!

My daughter had this book every since she was a newborn, now she is 8 yrs. old. This is still her go to book when it’s night time. I make sure whenever someone is having a baby girl, I purchase this book.

My baby loves this short and sweet book. She likes the pictures which aren't too overwhelming. I'm trying to add books to her collection with diverse characters and this one was perfect. Daddy reads it to her before bed most nights.

First, I love this book for its beautiful images of a family of colour. I'm especially happy that it features a black father playing with his daughter. The pictures are joyous and full of stars, moons, teddy bears and other familiar objects that toddlers have fun pointing out and identifying.Unfortunately, I'm really unimpressed with the writing. I know that a book for a toddler isn't going to feature the most elegant verse or prose, but I'm still surprised at how contrived the eight or so lines in this poem feel. It feels like a series of sentences hastily (and sometimes clumsily) composed to fit individual pictures, rather than a single theme or story running through the length of the book.Note: As my daughter likes the book, I'm going to add a fourth star to my initial three.I recommend  Welcome, Precious  and  Baby Dance (Harper Growing Tree) . They're very similar, but much better written, books for kids.

This is one of the first books that I purchased for my daughter. She was about 4 months at the time of purchase.She absolutely LOVES this book.The pictures are bold, bright and large.The story has a nice rthym to it. It has a nice amount of pages. The book is very sturdy.My daughter lover to grab at the book and touch the little girl that is illustrated. It is a very sweet story.She seems to never get tired of hearing it. It is the book that I use to put her to bed with. I'll read two or three short stories and she usually ends with her favorite.i would definitely reccomend as a great "Bedtime" book. :)Hope you enjoy this with your little one as much as I do. I almost have the pages memorized. :)

Cute book, I’m not sure it rhymes.

I bought this for my 2 year old niece. She loved it after the first read and immediately wanted an encore reading Lol

My 8month old daughter love for me to read to her. It is very important to me that I read books with characters that look like us, which made this book extra special! We both Love this book. She want me to read it over and over again.

My daughter loves this book. It’s lovely for her to see a character that looks like her, plus even better to see a lovely black father & daughter relationship. It’s one of my daughters fave books to read with her dad as a result 😬
