Does it have the flexibility to be used on the floor like a standard air mattress?** A: Sure. The pump that comes with it plugs into a car lighter. But it is an air mattress and would work wherever/however one inflates it. As tough for camping, too, as any air mattress. You can float in the pool with it, too. What is unique is the size and design for truck beds (thin area to go over wheel wells). There are other, less expensive choices for use not in a truck -- which is what you're paying for with product. **Q: Would this fit a 2006 dodge dakota but with a 5'5 bed? im not concerned if the tailgate has to be open but the wheel slots would need to line up** A: please note that this mattress PPI PV202C will NOT fit your 5' bed.
