Review: Works Great on Dakota - Bushing kit fit both my 1988 Dakota Long Bed & 1992 Dakota perfectly. Need bushing kits 49439 & 49440, I usually buy two of each so because its easy to mess one up being such soft plastic. Companies just won't sell all these bushings in one kit form, so - * for that one. Trust those folks saying It's a much easier fix removing the entire linkage setup here because it is in fact much easier to do so. Done this job both ways several times. Removing wiper arms note. Be sure you "lift wiper arms straight up & off windshield" then fully slide bottom tab over with large flat screwdriver or flat pry tool. Once Tab on bottom of wiper arm is slid over, then begin prying the wiper arm off post. People fail to notice that tab. Linkage removal: Under cowl cover remove the small bolts (3 each side) by wiper shafts & the (1 nut) on motor shaft/linkage. (Center inside cowl area). Entire linkage will lift right out. Once removed mark or take pics before disassembly. I replace one bushing at a time but always pay close attention to each metal linkage & plastic bushings directions/positions both. Each will only fit one way period! Don't get it wrong! I use my bench vise with a socket a tad larger in dia than the bushings dia to press them in, takes about 10 minutes with a vise. A med sized C-clamp or large Channel-Loc pliers will also work. Add a small dab of Dielectric or O-ring Grease inside the bushings to help it slide on shaft easier & keep wear down to minimum. ***Beware: Regular Petroleum based grease breaks down plastic & rubber parts quickly so its better to use no grease than to use regular petroleum automobile grease here.
Review: Very hard to find item. - If you own a late 1980's thru mid 1990's Chrysler product and have windshield wiper problem's, these are what you are looking for. All Chrysler wiper connections are made with nylon plastic wiper bushings. They do not last for decades, but they do not develop the squeaks and other noises found on other manufactures wiper systems. The Chrysler part number is 5211015. Good lucking finding a dealer with them in stock for under $20 dollars. You will need one, the package contains two. Also Dorman Products makes a set in there help section, these will only fit certain Chrysler vehicles manufactured 1964 to 1975 and Dodge trucks 1975 to 1990. I have tried many times to make them work on newer Chrysler's and have thrown the towel in and paid the dearship price. Dorman products 49439 is the correct and hard to find part. It includes two nylon plastic bushings, you will only need one per vehicle, that install on the wiper link that connects to the crank and pin drive. Looking from the front of the vehicle, this will be the drivers side wiper link. It slips over the crank pin, the crank and pin drive connects to the wiper electric motor via a nut. You do not need to remove this. Simply remove the wiper motor cover and seal(most often held on by four screws), remove the three bolts securing the wiper motor to the firewall and gently pull the wiper motor back to inspect what has failed. Most often it will be the drivers side bushing has worn out and has become loose or dislodged making the wiper system inoperable. Take a long screw driver inserting it between the passenger wiper link and the motor housing and gently apply pressure until it comes loose. I would strongly recommend Dorman part number 118-301(Chrysler 3799089) to replace the passenger wiper link since you are right there at it. When installing the new bushing(s) do use any kind of oil or grease. They are nylon plastic bushings, and oil or grease will greatly diminish there life span. The process is the same for the driver and passenger wiper link. So you will not forget, the driver side wiper link bushing has a hole all the way thru it, the passenger side wiper link has a domed top. You want to avoid marring the inside of the bushing. This will reduce the new bushings life and may make it pop out. The drivers side bushing is designed to be installed one way. When installing it the big ring goes towards the crank pin, the smaller ring goes towards the passenger side link. It has to be installed correctly to work right. To seat the bushings into the wiper link you will need a short 14 millimeter or 9/16 socket and a 17 millimeter or 5/8 inch socket and a pair of channel locks(adjusting pliers). Place the 17mm socket on the wiper link, place the bushing correct side, big ring towards front of car on driver wiper link, place 14mm socket on bushing, use channel locks on the socket's to press the bushing into place. You will feel a "pop" when the bushing is seated into the wiper link, do not press hard or you will damage the bushing and possibly the wiper link. This same process is used to seat the bushing on the passenger side wiper link. The driver's side wiper link is installed on the crank pin first. This is the bushing with the whole all the way thru it. Simply place the bushing over the crank pin, using you hands slowly apply pressure to the wipe link until you feel a "pop" and the wiper link is not seated onto the crank and pin. Place the passenger side wiper link on top of the crank pin and repeat the process. Slowly and carefully insert the wiper electric motor back onto the firewall so you will not dislodge any of the wiper link's. Simply tighten up the three bolts to torque specs(tight plus a quarter a turn will work fine) and install the wiper motor cover seal with the four screws and you are done.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wiper play gone
*by S***T on November 8, 2018*

Used in repairing the wiper linkages in my 96 dodge dakota. I needed one of these bushings for the repair, and 3 of another style. Not easy to install, but once installed appeared to fit well and function properly. ultimately not terrible it came in a two pack as one got fairly mangled during the install attempt.
