Worked perfectly
I was skeptical about this product, but given the price I said "why not" since I had these pesky birds using my covered patio as a haven from the Arizona heat and my patio furniture as their personal toilet. I cut (4) three foot pieces of the ribbon and clipped them onto a closed yard umbrella positioned close to my covered patio (sort of like a wind chime) and it's been several months now without a sign of white dung anywhere on my patio. Apparently the reflection paired with the regular breeze we have produces enough movement to keep the birds away. I couldn't be happier with this product. It doesn't keep the birds away entirely we still have them visit the edges of the yard, the waterfall of our pool along with some of our flowering plants mostly the smaller finches and hummers (all about 50 ft away from the tape), I could add some more tape in different areas but I don't really care if they're at the edges as long as I have a clean place to sit.

I got it to add to my owl scarecrow to use as wings as I have pigeons eating the bird seed. Keeps the pigeons away but believe it or not little birds like doves and robins don't mind the tape in the least. They are eating the seed within 2 feet of the owl with scare tape flapping away. perfect.

Works for woodpeckers!
I bought the 3/4 inch tape as well as the two inch tape figuring I could try both and see which works better. I used a piece of duct tape on the end of each 4 foot streamer so that I could put one nail in the duct tape end and it wouldn't tear. I found the 3/4 inch tape flutters better as it is less heavy than the two inch size. I also had trouble with the two inch size tearing off piece by piece from the bottom as the wind bashed the larger size into the wood siding causing small tears which eventually reduced my four foot streamers to two feet! So all in all, the 3/4 inch size works well for me keeping woodpeckers from my wall. It flutters and wriggles all over the wall and reflects all the colors of the rainbow while moving. It should be taken down though as soon as the nesting season is over as any bird will get used to any deterrent after awhile. UPDATE May 27, 2014 STILL NO WOODPECKERS! The 3/4 inch tape is still working well and has retained its color and hasn't faded one bit. The 2 inch tape faded badly after about two weeks in the sun. I highly recommend the 3/4 inch tape as it is higher quality and doesn't tear from the bottom.
