It's light and a fairly good size, just big enough for him to be able to fit the entire thing in his mouth. But not too big as to be a large, heavy necklace. It looks really nice and you'd never guess it's made of rubber. It's firm but has a slight squishiness to it. I think it would be best for moderately hard chewers. It might not hold up so well for someone who bites things as hard as they possibly can, but for my son it's been holding up without any issues. The necklace clasp is easy to snap together, but isn't too lose that it'll come undone with a small tug.
