Has anyone actually tried this in their bedroom? How did it work out (compared to loud crickets, for example)?

I tried it in the master suite sitting area open to my bedroom, so it was perhaps more than 20ft away rather than 10 from the bed. That distance difference is a big difference, might be too loud were it closer. The sound was excellent to me, not too loud, not too quiet. However, the carpet was a concern for me, risk of occasional spray and drip that would over time do unseen damage. So we moved it to our office on hardwood floor downstairs, with the clothes washer basin. May seem like a lot of trouble, but it is so beautiful to see and hear, it was worth the bother. We rarely do see an occasional splash of a few drops has escaped the controlled area, but it is a simple wipe up and it has no opportunity to soak into a carpet.

What do you plug the led light cord into? adapter?

It plugs into regular outlet or extension cord. The cord has the adapter attached.

Question 3

Does the water sound like a loud waterfall or a babbling brook, or a raging river? Also, can you hear the pump running? I am trying to block out traff

Accepted Answer

Sounds like a small waterfall, pretty relaxing, but can be loud due to the amount of water it's pushing out. And no, the only time you hear the pump is when it starts up. To the people who are hearing the pump, I suggest an algae cleaner, as that might be the problem. Also, you can reduce the noise of the water by filling it up to the point where the bottom is almost full to the tip.

Does it have a switch on/off? Can I install it on a timer?

It does not have an on/off switch but you can install a timer. You can also connect it to an extension with an on/off switch.
