Can you hook this up to a big propane tank like one you would use for a grill

I notice many torches specify "large diameter pipe" when explaining its soldering capability. Is this torch not recomended for small diameter copper?

I am 99% sure you can use it for small diameter pipe.

Can this be used with a 1-pound propane?

If you mean regular propane tanks used for torches yes. If brazing it works best with MAPP gas, It will braze with propane but Mapp heats faster.
