NKJV Reformation Study Bible, Burgundy, Genuine Leather

Absolutely outstanding product. Contains all of R.C. Sproul’s notes throughout the years carrying over from his ever-popular New Geneva Study Bible. Editors list reads like a who’s-who of Reformed Ph.D’s contributing to all aspects of this Bible. Snippets of J.I. Packer’s Concise Theology scattered about. Seville cowhide leather is soft to the touch with moderate grain, paste down liner. 3 brown ribbons. Color is supposedly “burgundy” but it’s somewhere between maroon and brown. Inside text is serif font somewhere in the 9.5pt range, notes are probably in the 7pt range. Print is consistent, but only moderately dark. Paper is smooth and reasonably thick (30+ GSM if I was guessing) with minimal ghosting. Heavy enough for writing notes on. Not line-matched, but that’s almost impossible in a study Bible. This thing is BIG! 9.5”x6.9”x2.5” Well over 4 lbs. Not an ideal “carry” Bible. This is truly a gem of a study Bible. I’ve tried almost all of the ESV study bibles on the market. This one is so good I bought 2: one hardcover, one leather. Solid reformed evangelical positions. Historical creeds, catechisms, and Protestant church doctrine listed in the back as well. This Bible has rapidly become one of my prized possessions. Highly recommended.

I'll say upfront: I'm a committed fan of the Reformation Study Bible. I own the digital version on Logos, the Korean edition, and the full print edition. Each has its place. But the Condensed Edition has become the one I reach for every day. It's simply the most portable format of this Bible, and Ligonier didn't cut corners to get it there. The leather is supple and holds up well to regular use. The typography is clean and easy on the eyes, and the paper quality is excellent — no frustrating bleed-through, and the print is crisp and consistent throughout. For those unfamiliar with the Reformation Study Bible, the study notes reflect solid Reformed theology — carefully written, pastorally useful, and theologically trustworthy. The condensed format retains the most essential notes, which is more than enough for personal devotions, sermon preparation on the go, or carrying to church. If you already love the full edition but want something you can take anywhere without hesitation, this is exactly what you're looking for. Highly recommended.

Finally there is a portable Study Bible with decent notes! This edition has a condensed version of the commentary that comes with the standard Reformation Study Bible, along with book introductions, cross references, a solid concordance, maps, and a Bible reading plan. This edition does not have the articles, book outlines, illustrations, or confessions of the standard edition. The structure seems to be sturdy, and the text is quite readable, considering the size of the book itself. It balances well in one hand and is perfectly portable for carrying with you. The pictures show the full size edition and the condensed edition together for comparison purposes. Update: The quality of the ink is poor, and will smudge. I have never seen anything quite like this, even in value edition Bibles. If you hold your place with your finger in one part of scripture, and flip to another section, like you might do if you were following cross references, the ink deteriorates and streaks. Unfortunately, this Bible is apparently not up to being used extensively for any period of time. This is unfortunate because the material is excellent, and the size is perfect. Hopefully they will consider contracting RL Allen to produce a quality edition that will last. I am deducting 2 stars because a Bible in this price point should be much more durable. It is still an excellent resource if you wear gloves while using it. I have included a picture. Update: these are now being printed in China, and although that is a little bothersome for political reasons, the quality has certainly improved. The paper is thicker, and the ink no longer smears.

This is our new family Bible. We love it. Beautiful leather cover and the commentary is super helpful. I really enjoy the information provided at the beginning of each book too.

I went looking for a bible to replace my old NIV & NAS. I wanted the ESV because of the word-for-word interpretation. I also wanted premium leather. Those parameters led me to limited choices on Amazon. I didn't want a huge over-mapped coffee table brick of a book, but I DID want something of a study bible. This is one smart, handsome bible! Love the smell of the fresh leather, and it easily fits on my end table as if it belongs there. People complain about the print size, but I find it quite readable & I really enjoy the soft flexibility of the front and back covers while reading- an unexpected bonus. Now, I did run into a potential snag because of my own ignorance. This bible is a reformation bible. My thinking was that the term met that it just wasn't a Catholic bible. I was surprised to see several Calvinists in the 'credits'. I just had not thought that far ahead. (I go Wesleyan/Arminian.) However, so far, I find the notes to be just fine, and really helpful. I did a search and at least one person said that they found no overt Calvinist influences. So, I am as happy as can be with this edition. I had read about quality issues with another printer, this little guy is all quality fit& finish.

I am heavily involved in student ministry at church, and I need a bible that is small enough to fit inside your backpack/rucksack for camp, durable enough to handle endless flipping of pages and dust exposure, and theologically accurate commentary to provide my middle school boys with scriptural truth. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to picking out my every day bible, but this has any, and all of them beat. ESV. There is no other translation out there that is more accurate in wording than this one. I prefer accurate truth; not “summed up” truth (I’m talking to you, “The Message” translation). COMPACT. I can fit this into the cargo pocket of my pants when I’m down in Mexico, or fit it into a small carrying bag when I’m at summer camp. When I’m preaching on stage, I can easily maneuver around the pages without it being too much of a hassle. DURABLE. The genuine leather, though not very costly in raw material, is very durable. This thing has survived 2 Mexico trips and 3 summer camps. Not to mention in the upwards of 100+ bible studies. I’ve put this through the ringer, and it just keeps on giving. THEOLOGICALLY ACCURATE. This is most important. I put a bible down immediately if it isn’t theologically sound. RC Sproul and Ligonier Ministries are definitely up there with the top dogs. Over all, this sharp, double edged sword has proven more than useful in many battles in my walk with God, and my students’ as well. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Item as described. Well wrapped and arrived in perfect condition.

I realized that even though I have studied the Bible, I have never read it from cover to cover. This is the perfect size and the notes help with clarification and understanding. I read at night so I also got a book light from Amazon that fits perfectly https://amzn.to/48gAwWS I use highlighters from Amazon as well and they do not bleed through the pages https://amzn.to/48gAIFA I am very pleased with my purchases and would highly recommend. These would make a thoughtful gift as well!

Des commentaires profonds et éclairants, RC.Sproul a laissé un beau cadeau au monde chrétien avec cette bible d'étude : foncez vous la procurer si vous comprenez l'anglais !

I really didn't need another study Bible, but I just couldn't resist. I don't regret it one bit. The Bible is beautiful - well laid out and easy to read if you just want to "read" rather than study, although it is quite heavy so best laid on a desk. The creeds at the back are really interesting and worth having, and the articles are meaty but not too deep for somebody who doesn't have a theology degree. I love the layout with the references there if you ned them but tucked away in the inner margin. The notes however are absolutely fantastic, and I have learnt so much already that I didn't know. Buy this Bible! You won't regret it - it is a gem.

Got a second hand product with stains on the top of the Bible and tape in the middle, very disappointed, thats why it was cheap

箱はちょっと破けてたから雑な扱いされたよーな感じでバリバリ分かります、本事態は問題ないで安心した。

Marvelous product in a high quality translation for reformed study.
