I hate the noise of gas mowers and starting them is sometimes difficult. After researching a LOT I decided to purchase the Fiskars 6208. I have had it stored all winter and anxiously wondered if it would work with my lawn. My lawn is not perfectly flat. Part of it is a hill overlooking a road so it is steep and I worried the weight of the mower would pull me over the the edge. I have weeds and several kinds of demon grasses that grow different thicknesses and rates. There were a few stragglers that grew after the last time we did the lawn last spring. I decided I couldn't wait any longer and tried to even up the lawn. This mower worked like a dream! It cut well. I am small woman but the mower was easy to push and maneuver. I had to go back over a few spots but that's alright. It's good exercise and it's a quiet, pleasant experience. I can do this in the middle of the night if I wanted to and it would bother no one. There were a few high spots but the mover shaved those down the first pass so that won't be a problem anymore. I would recommend this mower. I will make back the cost of the mower by not buying gas or paying someone to cut my lawn. Very tough little mower. **Q: Any of you live in the south and use this mower with St. Augustine grass?** A: I use it on my St. Augustine lawn here in Florida, and I’ve been extremely happy with it! It does leave the taller weeds, I will say, but I don’t mind going through and pulling those. It’s the only reel mower I could find that has options for cutting at the healthier height of 3.5-4” and my lawn has been thanking me. **Q: What difference(s) between this newer model and the older model, also offered here on Amazon for $179?** A: I have had the $179 model for less than a year. The front wheels are made of hard plastic and will not last the year. I do have to go over 300 feet of concrete driveway to get to a couple of other patches of grass, but I would still expect more from the wheels. The front wheels of the newer model look more substantial, but obviously I can't swear to their durability.Besides the reversible chute mentioned by photofan, the description says the older model is 30% easier to push (which is pretty darn easy on my bermuda grass) and the newer one says 60% easier. The older model also says "50 percent more cutting power" while the newer one says 100% ("twice") the cutting power. Edit: Having now seen the newer model, the new front wheels are essentially smaller versions of the back wheels. So I assume they would last longer than the front wheels of the older model. **Q: Can you use this kit more than once or is it a one time sharpening system (meaning I'll have to buy another one in a few years)?** A: When I finished using my Fiskar's sharpening the first time, there was enough sharpening compound left in the container to repeat the process many times over. And since it's something you'll only be doing once every few years, I assume the kit will last a very long time. The price is reasonable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A mower you can use in *by M***E on August 18, 2025* Bought this because I worked night shift and had neighbors who would complain about noise and other neighbors who would complain about poor lawn maintenance, and this seemed like an agreeable solution. It was easy to assemble. No complaints there. One wheel was defective. No matter what I did, it kept falling off. Replaced it. Every once in a while, it does jam. It's easy enough to clear. I've read a few complaints in the reviews, but it really comes down to understanding that the spin reel technology is designed to create momentum in the reel. It doesn't work well if you stop and start a lot, or go back and forth like a vacuum cleaner. It's also not going to be helpful if you've neglected your lawn for an extended period.
