Can you turn it upside down to shake what is inside without it leaking?

Nope... it's a great little pitcher but leaks when it's turned upside down.

I don't know, but I love it and gave 2 for Christmas and they say the same, perfect for Ice tea oz's are on the glass.

Is this product lead free?

I believe the literature said it was lead free.

How do you make ice tea?

Either brew your tea extra strong (use enough tea for the whole pitcher but about 1/2-3/4 as much water) and pour over ice, or add cold brew tea bags directly to cold water and let sit for about 5 minutes. Do not add sugar to cold water as another comment mentions! Cold water will not fully dissolve the sugar and it will settle at the bottom of your pitcher! Either add sugar while tea is hot, or make a simple syrup of equal parts sugar and boiling water. Once cooled, this syrup will mix easily with your iced tea. Sweeten to taste.
