The photos alone, in the usual format of putting the vintage photo on the left page with the corresponding new photo on the right, is good enough, but wow, the text is really informative, with lots of great Vegas stories and lore. I confess I often skip over the text in photo books like this, but it's so much fun to read, without being overblown, wordy or filled with Vegas boosterism. The author really did her homework. When I bought this, the paperback version wasn't out yet, so I bought the hardback, and boy, I'm glad I did. The second edition has a sticker saying "completely updated and revised" and it isn't kidding. Some of the "now" photos look like they were taken yesterday. By far the best book on Vegas I've seen. You won't go wrong with this. (I know, the tone of this review sounds like I'm a shill.
