My son is 14 and disabled he is the size of a 7-8 year old weighs 50 pounds will this work for him?

It’s difficult to say. I weigh 175 lbs and it didn’t have enough buoyancy for me to use it as a kick board. Weight-wise it might work depending how much use your son has of his arms. If he works with a physical therapist he/she may have suggestions. Best of luck in your search for an answer!

Can you do laps (freestyle) with this collar?

This would prohibit you from doing the laps comfortably. it is not recommended for use with the freestyle.

is this difficult to clean. We are thinking of using instead of a neck doodle . It would be exposed to extremely high salt levels.

I use this in a heated salt pool for physical therapy. It has been durable and is similar to the one my PT uses.This is not adequate for a regular floatations device. That is stated on the use instructions
