MUSICIANS PRACTICE GLOVE - 1 Glove - Finger & Hand issues (XX-Small, black)

Apparently, invented for bass players, here I'll address the viability for left hand fretting on an acoustic steel string guitar. Purchased due to severe nickle allergy. Instead of refretting all my favorite guitars (hands shredded bc nickle is toxic to me), figured I'd give this glove a try. Chose basic black. On the size chart I'm borderline small to regular. Ordered Xtra small. Pretty tight snug fit where I want it to be. Tips of fingers. Finger length is just about spot on. Pinky is slightly too short, but only by a hair. Is it a second skin. Not exactly, however it's relatively close, given it's stated purpose. Feels pretty weird at first, which should be expected. Not weird bad just "oh, this is a bit different." It's comfortable, and you can slide (on the neck) a bit more smoothly. Like coated dental floss heh. Also there's a bit of sonic adjustment required regarding tonality from finger/glove material on string (as opposed to flesh), however it's minor. Putting the glove to the strictest test concerning how usable it is (for me), involved the following. Placement of pinky on second fret high E string and ring finger on 2nd fret B string. Do they rub together, do they mute the notes? Pinky on 2nd fret high E string, Ring finger on 2nd fret G string, open B string btwn. Do pinky or ring rub against and mute the open B string? Thankfully, the answer to the above questions are mostly negative. For the most part, the glove does not interfere with granular micro fingerings on the most delicate strings. Every so often you will need to readjust the arc of your fretting hand to compensate for the additional thickness. However, it's not that often and isn't game breaking. Conclusion, for nickle allergy sufferers this glove is an excellent product. I'd like to see future iterations even thinner and more second-skin like. However, this current version is usable and doesn't make playing unenjoyable. Therefore, I give it 5 stars (really about 4 1/2), bc the glove, and the material it's fabricated from allow me to continue doing what I love. Playing the axe!

This has been working great so far! I have put down and picked back up my stringed instruments so many times over the years but I'm always hesitant over the latter because when you don't play for awhile the calluses go away and you gotta form the blisters all over again which isn't just uncomfortable but limits your play/practice time when starting back up. But this glove has been a total godsend, I can play as long as I'd like and keep my fingers fresh and painless. I'm really surprised I just found out about these after so many years of playing. So far they are holding up but I haven't had them for long, so be sure that I WILL update my review if they prove to be undurable and fall apart. But until then, if that even happens, I have nothing but great things to say about this product! Probably one of the most impactful guitar/bass accessories I've ever worked with!

I am 62 and new to learning the guitar. Like most people, the painful fingertips I have are causing me to take a day in between practicing. I realize this is part of the process, but my fingers feel like they've been severely burned. So, I found this glove and figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The glove distributed the pressure more evenly around my fingertip rather than leaving the deep ruts from the strings. I can still feel the string, and I don't think that I will need to use it in the future, but for now it will allow me to practice everyday rather than the every other day I needed to rest my fingertips. Now on to the glove itself. I measured my finger as shown, and according the chart I needed a size small. But, it also says to size down for a tight fit. After reading the reviews and seeing that the new version of this glove with the logo printed on it, was smaller than the original version, I ordered the small. It fits perfectly, with the exception of the space at the bottom, between the fingers. As noted by other reviewers, the material doesn't go all the way down. I found that I had to push the material down from each fingertip, towards the bottom of my finger to get it to fit correctly. I have kid sized hands and really didn't expect this, but there it is. You can get it to fit better, you just have to work with it. Maybe it loosens up over time, we'll see. I also found that the glove was a little short from the base of the fingers to the wristband. The wristband part starts more on the heel of my palm, rather than below it. Again, maybe as I wear it, it will loosen up and fit better there or maybe a medium would fit better. I may try a size up in the future, but for right now, this is getting the job done. In summary, if you are just starting to learn an instrument with strings and it feels like someone has ripped your nails off, and discouraging the practice that will toughen them up, I say it can't hurt to try. I am happy enough with the glove to give it four stars, despite the minor fit issues. At this point, I don't know how durable the glove will be, but I don't think at this point I am playing enough to cause a lot of damage, so we'll see how it goes.

I’ve been using this product for over 2 years. It used to only available on guitar music store websites. I’m absolutely happy they are on Amazon now. This is the true name brand original. Words of wisdom is be sure to use the information in the images to measure for a right fit. Once, you figure out the size go one size smaller. The key is the glove needs to be like a second skin. It may require some breaking in but once it is you will never need to worry about callouses being ripped or having to build them up. Absolutely, perfect for those just starting to guitar because you won’t need to endure painful blistering to form callouses. Another advantage is the string clarity when fretting with this glove. I have to but a pair because my musician buddies will borrow one of them and never return it. They’re so affordable I don’t bother making a scene over their lack of returning the glove. Ladies if you’re with a guitarist but this as a gift. Even, if they claim they don’t need it, they will eventually and thank you for not slapping them for being stubborn

I bought these gloves for bass playing, however, I did want to return these gloves since the fitting restrict the fingers dexterity but Amazon generously let me keep them and refunded the money. Recently, out of curiosity, I tried them again and discovered a way to make these gloves functional as they are intended for musicians. First, in response to reviews that said these gloves are too thin that can see through which I can see that it's not a bad thing as it's part of the tactile feel for strings instruments playing. Now, about the restriction of fingers dexterity from these gloves is the design of the valleys between the fingers that are straight across instead of slightly slanted especially the drastic drop of the valley between pinky and ring finger therefore those fingers cannot spread freely but worse, since the valley of the glove between those fingers doesn't fit nicely, it would rise up and pulled up along with it the valley between the ring and middle finger and caused the fingers to cramp up. To remedy this, I cut the tip of the gloves' pinky and voila` , the gloves work much better! If the manufacturer takes my idea and re-designs these gloves, I would like to try these new and improved version of these puppies!

I wish I'd known about these sooner. I just started playing about 6 months ago, and I haven't had any feeling in my Thumb and Fingers for about 5 months. I was getting very concerned I may have to quit. I'd stop playing for a couple of days and then my symptoms would get better but as soon as I started up again (I'm taking lessons so I have to practice) my fingers would go right back to numb. These gloves work GREAT. They do not get in the way and in some ways I can play smoother with them on. I've been using them for about 2 weeks and the feeling is slowly coming back to my fingers. They feel almost normal again and I am not losing any of the callouses that I'd built up. I imagine beginners will still build up callouses even while using them. They just take the edge off. Now I can practice as much and as long as I like without having to ice my fingers every night. These are a god send.

Lightweight. Really helps to stop fretting discomfort if your fingers are not yet used to metal strings or for prolonged practice sessions.

2ND Edit: I've been using these gloves for over a year, perhaps close to two. I use these for BASS ONLY. I stand by most of what I've said below. Maybe I feel stronger now as I pretty much won't play bass without them. They take some getting used to, but once you do get used to them you won't want to play without them. For me they add a musical nuance that is absent with bare hands. Even with flatwound strings... and possible particualary with flatwounds, they are extraordinarily helpful. If you get used to playing with them once you try barehanded again you will feel that it takes more effort to get around. While we all learn barehanded and never think about the effort required, once you use the gloves you'll become aware. Can I still play bare handed? Sure. Do I want to? Not really. Perhaps on a really hot day when I have to keep my hands cool I'll keep the gloves off. PRO TIP: BUY AT LEAST ONE SIZE LARGER THAN IT SAYS. TAN COLOR IS ALMOST A SIZE SMALLER THAN BLACK. Edit: It's been some months since I started using these gloves. My previous review had been about fit. The fit isn't consistent even in the same size. My black on is a little looser than my tan one, both in XL. And I ordered one other tan one in Large, which was a mistake, but I've kind of stretched it out so it works. Having said that, I've gone from experiment with them playing bass to not wanting to play bass without them. A glove on the left hand lets me get around smoother and slinkier. A glove on the right hand gives me better touch. I can still engage my finger nail on my right hand, but it just gives a little crispness to the attack without sounding "plinky" like a bare nail would sound like on a bass string. They really help keep things quiet when recording. Last summer I was doing an outdoor gig, gloves on, of course and toward the end I thought I'd just take them off (I forget why now). Well as soon as we did the next tune without my gloves, back on they went for the duration. While they can be used on guitar I don't use them with either acoustic or electric. While they are great on bass I just don't like them on guitar. To that I say just play and build up the callouses. After 2 weeks you wouldn't need them anyay. Do I recommend these? For bass players, you gotta try em and get used to them. Then you won't want to live without them. A lot of famous bass players are wearing gloves now! Guitar? Forget about it.

Ovviamente non ha senso mettersi il guantino perchè fa figo...(ovviamente tutti ti chiederanno come mai usi il guanto...!) Lo si usa perchè serve / se ne ha bisogno. Io soffro di reazioni allergiche sulla pelle ed in particolare sulla mano sinistra per cui spesso uso creme che mi renderebbero impossibile suonare. Con il guanto ho risolto ottimamente. Inoltre il guanto protegge le dita dall'abrasione delle corde "round wound", in parte protegge dal nichel chi ne è allergico, aumenta la scorrevolezza delle dita sulle corde e questo è particolarmente evidente usando le corde lisce (che io impiego sul fretless). La scorrevolezza delle dita inoltre risulta ancora maggiore, rispetto a senza guanto, nel caso in cui le dita siano sudate. Non costano pochissimo ma sono fatti alquanto bene. Ho la sensazione che questa versione marrone sia leggerissimamente più stretta rispetto alla versione bianca. O forse dipende semplicemente dal fatto che lo ho usato pochissimo (anche se con quello bianco non mi ricordo di questa sensazione iniziale). Io ne ho 4 (3 bianchi e 1 marrone/color carne che uso nei concerti per mimetizzare di più il guanto). Scegliete con molta cura la taglia giusta seguendo le istruzioni scegliendo il prodotto. Per me è diventato un prodotto must have.

Tengo un eccema dishidrótico en las manos, y cuando hace frío y no llevo las manos abrigadas se me resecan y agrietan. Con estos mimbres me hice guitarrista, para forzarme a cuidar de mis manos. Y bueno, no se me da mal, puedo ir a tocar a la calle y que no me tiren piedras, pero las épocas de frío o cuando me aprieta el eccema hacen que tenga que dejarlo... o sufrir. Hace poco un compi de curro me comentó que utiliza estos guantes, y yo no perdía nada por probar uno. Así que lo encargué... y madre mía, ya es otra cosa. Ya puedo tocar en cualquier circunstancia. Es conveniente coger una talla menor de la recomendada según esas medidas, cosa que es cierta para que se ajuste bien a los dedos, y después dar el guante de sí un poco estirando. Y hacer ejercicios de calentamiento con el guante puesto para que dé de sí. Con esto consigues que la práctica sea más cómoda, y que el guante no te ofrezca resistencia ni te limite. Además se desliza la mano mejor sobre las cuerdas, no las oxidas por no pasarle el sudor, y encima es un guante resistente. No he notado variación de tono, sostenido ni nada raro. Los acordes se realizan bien. Eso sí, recuerdo: estirando bien el guante. Tengo pensado coger cuatro o cinco, aunque encargaré una de mi talla real.

Premier essai de gant sur ma basse 6 cordes et c'est super ! Moins de grincements et plus de bobos aux doigts ! :)) - ATTENTION TAILLE TRÈS GRAND : c'est à dire que le gant doit être ajusté pour jouer et bien vérifiez la taille de vos doigts... Vaut mieux un gant trop petit que le contraire (texture en mailles extensibles). Parfait aussi pour la transpiration.
