## Description

We've all been there, 56 miles into a 64-mile slugfest, chasing breaks and shattering echelons in search of a prestigious end-of-season county line sprint for glory. And then that slight edge of fatigue starts to creep in as we weigh the chances of powering to the line without bonking versus dealing with the thick, sticky, stomach-turning taste of the little packet of goo tucked in our back pocket. We've paid the price for pushing through more than once, running out of gas at 200 meters to go and helplessly watching the group fly by without any watts to respond. That, however, all changes with Science in Sport's GO Isotonic Gels. The key differentiator that sets these gels apart from the masses of others on the market is in the name. They're isotonic, which isn't just a fancy way of saying they're refreshing. It means they're designed with the same osmotic pressure already present in your body, so they deliver their 22 grams of carbohydrates quickly without requiring an extra-large helping of water in your already overtaxed stomach. How this plays out in the real world is a slightly larger volume per packet and a thinner consistency. The Isotonic Gels go down easier for a much-needed energy boost without any sticky residue or finicky bottle handling to distract you from the task at hand. For the racers out there, the GO Isotonic Gels also offer some peace of mind from the whirling chatter of tainted supplements and suspicious substances. These gels are certified through the Informed Sport Evolved Certification program, undergoing vigorous testing through a third party, world-class anti-doping lab that analyzes pre-production raw ingredients and post-production product. This scrutiny also includes site audits to ensure that the gels contain quality ingredients and are free from prohibited substances--and that means everything if you're serious about riding clean. The Science in Sport GO Isotonic Gels are available in a variety of flavors to suit your tastes, wi...

Review: Great Gel Option For Athletes - My friend recommended this to me after I complained about tummy issues with the gels I used to use. These are super easy to swallow and don't require water like most gels, so that's great if you are in a pinch with no water. The flavor is fine. I mean, it's a gel, I'm not looking for a five star menu item here. My only gripe (is it even a gripe?) is that they recommend consuming several of these during a long run and there's just no way I can do that. I have been using one per 90-120 minutes and that has been working for me. If I were running a marathon, I'd likely consume one every 60 minutes. You need to play with the amount as you train and do what works for you. Overall, I'd recommend this to my endurance athlete friends out there.
Review: Works for me - I originally tried a couple of these when they were handed out during a half marathon earlier this year and found them tolerable, so I figured I'd stock up now that I am training for a marathon. Overall, I really like these compared to a lot of the stuff on the market. As others have mentioned, the taste isn't amazing - I think of it like watered down gatorade - but they also aren't overly sweet and there is no chalky taste in my mouth or gunk stuck in my teeth like chews do. It's very easy to get down. Lemon & Lime is my favorite so far. The biggest pro so far is that they seem to be a lot gentler on my stomach! I don't like to haul water with me when I run, so I like that I can eat these whenever I want instead of having to wait for a drinking fountain on my path. The only downside for me is that they are a bit bulkier, so my pack is a bit fuller at the start of my run.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Gel Option For Athletes

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works for me

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ You'll have to carry a backpack full of these for long events.
*by T***E on 25 May 2018*

Having used almost every energy gel product out there, I was anxious to try SiS Energy Gel over the course of a few 2 hour + training rides that I was putting in for some upcoming endurance events (I always try new products in training settings before trusting them enough for a race). I found the taste of the lemon & lime to be neither lemon nor lime, sort of a bland citrus like flavor, which wasn't horrible, it just didn't wow me. To be fair, most energy gels don't taste all that great anyway. The consistency is true to how they describe it, more of a liquid rather than a gel, so it actually empties out of the sachet rather than having to squeeze it out, like with other brands. This makes it a little easier to actually get in the mouth rather than all over your hands (and gloves, and shift levers, etc). The main thing I do not like is the low calorie count, about 80 calories per sachet. For a 3 or 4 hour event, I would need to stuff my pockets with these if I were going to rely on them as my main energy source. I am looking forward to trying some of the other flavors, especially the ones that have caffeine.
