55 Designs including quotes from stories and Jane Austen – printed one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. I've been a fan of Jane Austen's work since I first read “Pride and Prejudice” at age nine. Of course, most of the nuances of the story went completely over my head at that time but I have read and re-read all of her works many times over – even writing essays about them both in high school and college. When I discovered a coloring book that covered many of her works, I ordered it immediately. The coloring book is a smaller format with a hinged cover and a hard cardboard back, so it is perfect for taking on the go. The pages are held in place with a glue binding similar to a note pad and are easily removed in full if you wish to do so. I'm debating this as I would probably like to keep the book together. The designs include quotes from both Ms. Austen's novels and from the author herself. Some of the quotes make up the coloring on the page and some are merely there to describe the design. The designs are on the front of the page and on some of them, there is a description and quote that more fully describes the design on the front. The books are: “Pride and Prejudice”, “Sense and Sensibility”, “Mansfield Park”, “Emma”, “Persuasion, and “Northanger Abbey”. Also are one design based on “Sanditon” a few quotes from letters by Ms. Austen, and one design based on “Juvenilia”.The quote designs are fairly easy to color. The other designs include detailed and intricate parts which might require ultra-fine nibs to color properly. This is what I found while coloring in and testing the paper of this book with my various coloring medium:55 Designs based on the works by Jane AustenPrinted on one side of the page with quotes on the back of some pagesPaper is heavyweight, almost light weight card stock. The paper is white, somewhat smooth and, while non-perforated, are easily detachable from the glue bindingGlue bound similar to a notepad with a hinged cover and a hard cardboard backingDesigns stop either before or at the binding and removing them from the book will not cause of the loss of any of the designAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paper slightly. I still suggest a blotter be used below the working page to stop ink from seeping further into the book. I cut down a piece of chipboard and keep it with the book.Water-based markers, gel pens, and India ink pens did not bleed through the paper.Colored pencils worked well. I was able to use both oil and wax based pencils to get a light color, deep pigment, multiple layers, and blending. Hard lead pencils did not dent through the page.

Delightful Regency Coloring Book
OK, I admit I have never read a Jane Austen novel. (The closest I came is to watching "Pride and Prejudice" with Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen , who is yummy, BTW.) However, I do love Historical Regency Romances, so I wanted this coloring book for the fashions. And what a lovely book it has turned out to be. It's a small format; pages can be easily pulled out and would fit in a 6 x 8 frame. The pages are very thick and are a bright white. I plan to use a combination of fineliner pens and colored pencils. The markers may go through a bit, so put a blotter between sheets. The designs are on one side of the page only, with quotes from Jane Austen books on the backs of some of the pages.I like and have quite a number of large format coloring books. Which are just fine when you don't have a cat sitting on your lap who gets annoyed when you lay the book on her. I've become quite enamored lately of the smaller format coloring books. They're easier to use when sitting in a chair, and handy to tote around. The back of this one is very thick cardboard, which makes coloring easier since you have a sturdy back surface. If you're a Jane Austen fan or a historical romance fan, I think you'll love this unique coloring book.

Pretty little coloring book
The book is compact, but great quality. The pages are nice thick almost card stock, and they remove easily. The back has a piece of stiff cardboard to it so to give it stability if you wish to color directly in the book.I thought the art was nice, if not a little too small in places to color with out a super sharp pencil. Its still very pretty though, and I like all the quotes they chose to include.I think Amazon may need to review its review process for books though..."How would you describe the plot of this book?" Well, its a coloring book, so does it have a plot? "How would you describe the characters?" Are there any though? I mean Darcy is well developed, and Catherine Morland speaks to my soul, but does that really have anything to do with me coloring in their faces??

Perfect!
This coloring book has all the makings of a family tradition. The pages are removable which was one of the selling factors for me. The book is a little smaller than I envisioned but it is accurate to the product description. The pages are perfect for coloring, not super geometric like some of the mandala coloring books but more pictorial - which is ideal since there are adorable photos of the couples. I bought this as a Christmas gift and I'm certain my family member will love it. The book and binding are excellent quality as well. this gift will last for years to come - and since the pages are removable there is the option to share, and to even frame some of the pieces. Oh and the pages are single sided meaning no bleed through and no having to chose which side to display should you frame it! super exciting!

Great Quality but
Lovely lines and pictures. Quality is excellent. Unfortunately, 3 letters one page were already colored in.

What fun!
I got to decide what Elizabeth and Darcy were to wear, and Jane, Bingley and even Jane Austen...what's not to love. I really liked the size of this book too, perfect lappillow size (I color while watching TV, color more than watch. I've always multi-tasked while watching but coloring books are now my favorite TV-watching activity.)

Wonderful
This is a great gift for Austen fans. My only comment is that the pictures to color are very intricate, which can be time consuming to color. Although, I think the intricacies make the images even more beautiful.

Not so great
Was disappointed in this coloring book. It's much smaller than what I expected and, honestly, the people in them look very strange. Some of the pictures are fun but I would suggest buying a different Jane Austen coloring book instead of this one.
