Best natural deodorant available and love the scent variety!
This deodorant is the best natural deodorant iโve ever bought. Over the past year and a half, i have tried every scent they make, except for Sport. The first few timeโs i ordered through Amazon, i received the product with broken tops, and have never received a single response from the company. However, i like the product so much, that i ordered many more, and most of them have been fine. The โcigarโ scent, smells like a fresh cigar (unlit). The Aloe is fresh cut.. clean smelling, perfect for summer. One of my favoriteโs is the, only occasionally available, coconut. It smells exactly like the Hawaiian sun tan lotion from when i was a kid. Love it! The โBayโ scent.. smells like you just went to the barber shop for a hair cut. Leather.. scent.. smells NOT like a watch band, but instead.. like leather from the leather shop (however the smell changes within a few hours to one i didnโt like). The same with Vetiver .. at first.. it smells like your sitting around a campfire and brings back awesome memories.. however.. within an hour or two.. it begins to smell like an electrical fire (really strange and gross). The oak moss has a nice โwoodsyโ smell to it and is nice for daily wear. However.. bar none.. my favorite.. is Cederwood. It smells like fresh cut cedar when you put it on.. and throughout the day. Never had to โreapplyโ the cederwood either. Chestnut is also pretty good.. smells like the interior of an old hotrod.. if youโve ever owned a classic car.. youโll know what I mean. Original scent smells like the original โright gaurdโโฆ As for โsage limeโ.. it smells clean and summery at first, but is not that good within a few hours. Basically.. as far as natural deoderantโs are concerned. This companyโs products actually smell like the name implies (unlike other companies attempts). They have a large selection for men, woman, other(s). They last all day without needing to be reapplied.. My only advice is to take the companies adviceโฆ apply with one swipe up, and one swipe down the other side.. another words โless is moreโ.. if you over apply.. it will burn .. leave stains.. or cause trouble. Adding more.. will NOT make it work better, or last longer. On average. A container last me a few months because of how thin you apply it. If your switching from an anti-persperant to this product, it will take a few days for your body to adjust. You can also do thisโฆ if you take a shower at nightโฆ you can use an anti-perperant (especially an unscented one.. if done this on the hottest days of the summer), and the next morning.. after showering, apply Sams (the scent you love the most). This will make you sweat less during the worst summer days, while still using the scent you love the most. Iโve only needed to do this a few times in a year. I used another product, which is a pad containing simply the anti-persperant (called sweat block; which last up to seven days and is unscented), and then used Samโs as normal; during 100 degree days. Even on dayโs that are in the eighties and nineties.. Samโs works fine on itโs own. As for stainingโฆ iโve only had one Samโs product cause stains.. and that was the Coconut one. Because it has coconut oil i assume.. this one caused problems. However, for the most part, Samโs washes out of clothing very well. Summary: I have tried numerous โnaturalโ deodorants.. and Samโs in bar none.. the best. It smells like the name implies.. last longer than other โnaturalโ deodorantโs.. doesnโt stain clothing (except for the one i mentioned). And, even though it is expensive.. you put it on so thinly.. that it lasts as long as any other deodorant you might buy.

I Tried Tom's Crappy Deo First
I have never written a product review before but I had to do it for this gem of a deo. I switched to natural deodorant after reading several research papers in a college class about the harmful effects of anti-perspirants on your health, especially in women where there is an increased risk of breast cancer. I tried Tom's crappy deo first, it made me sticky and smelly and I went back to the cancer deo. I then quit deo all together ( I had the luxury to do this because I wasn't working for a while post-grad and wasn't around anyone but family so no one to stinkify haha) I then started researching natural deos and took a risk with this product. I had no rashes or itchiness unlike some people that had this reaction and I don't know how but it made me sweat less then I ever have and I don't smell at all, this deo smells amazing, subtle and fresh. I apply it once and I am good for the rest of the day, and this is for someone that is an anxiety sweater. I am also big on the color white and although I was ready and willing to let this stain my clothes it did not happen. HOWEVER, my boyfriend got the UNSCENTED one and he DID develop an itchiness that lasted two days after he stopped usage, he ended up getting Primal Paste from whole foods instead. I think I didn't have this reaction because I allowed my armpits to properly detox by not using any deodorant for a month before I started using Sam's. I still cannot recommend this deodorant enough, if you're hesitant to try this take this as the sign to try it, worst comes to worse you do a great monkey impersonation for 2 days. 11/26/18 EDIT: I had a skin reaction to the UNSCENTED deodorant with large red welts forming in my underarms. I did not have this reaction to the Women's one. Something is off with the UNSCENTED one. BEWARE.

The aloe scent is a little strong for me, but I like the product a lot!
This is my first natural deodorant, and I thought I'd try Sam's Natural because I like some of their other products. With that being said, this is not too bad! I ordered the aloe scent, which is a lot stronger than I expected. It's pretty masculine, but not in a bad way. Once it dries for me it's not as strong of a smell. This really does the deodorizing job -- even by the end of the day I'm not stinky, which is great! It also does help with sweating, which was one of my main concerns. I tend to sweat a lot and was worried that this would mask the smell but not help with the issue. It did! I would purchase this again, but maybe in a different scent. I did develop a rash like several of the other customers. However, after some research, I realized that A) I was putting too much on and B) I needed to thoroughly cleanse my armpits before bed and in the morning before applying the deodorant. I've found that putting some of the deodorant on my fingers and then rubbing it in helps me to not put too much on. I was so used to globbing on regular deodorant that it took some time for me to realize I didn't have to do that anymore. I use either apple cider vinegar or lemon juice on a cotton ball to cleanse the area before bed, and then I wash with soap in the shower in the morning before I put deodorant on. Also, after applying the deodorant with my fingers I rub a little extra coconut oil in as well, just for some extra moisture. Cleaning my armpits so much was making the skin dry, but the extra coconut oil really helps to keep the skin nice and soft, and it also helps disburse the deodorant a little bit. Overall I like it and will buy it again when mine runs out.

Best Natural Deodorant Iโve Used
I got the Patchouli scent so my review is based on that. The deodorant works well. It wonโt stop you from sweating, itโs not designed to do that, but the scent will last all day under normal conditions. If you are a patchouli lover, this deodorant is for you. Itโs unapologetic. It doesnโt make excuses. It doesnโt try to hide. It stands tall and dares you to try to hide its glorious aroma knowing full well that you will fail at doing so.

Pretty bad in every regard other than initial nice smell
At the time I am writing this, this has about a 3.8-4 star average review. The only explanation for that I can think of is lots of reviews where the person opens it, it smells great, uses it a day and then writes a review. After using it for one month I can say that this is a pretty bad deodorant all around, but it would trick you on day one or two as it does smell like leather pretty nicely right after you unseal the wrapper. It goes downhill from there: the leather smell goes quickly away and after a week you can barely notice it and after 2 weeks you are just spreading $12 neutral scented paste in your armpits. That brings me to the other big ding on this: the consistency and spreadability is disgusting, it is way too dry and thick, it would absolutely be easier to spread peanut butter than use this glue stick consistency "deodorant". I will forever remember this as the "Matt Foley" deodorant, because it leaves you feeling like you have left "dried up cakes of deodorant under your arms for weeks at a time" if you go one day without showering. If you don't shower or otherwise wash this off every day it stays in your armpit as a caked layer that never disappears for the next day, and would just keep building up, so you will have to go thoroughly wash your armpits every morning/evening if you aren't a daily shower person. The round tube is an 80's design which is fitting because this is basically a crappy 80's chalk/glue deodorant repackaged and sold at a premium. The whole thing is a shame because whoever designed the leather smell actually got that spot on, they just can't get it to stay more than a couple days after opening (and it fades away in a hour or so after application) and they paired the smell with a company who can't make a decent deodorant to save their life. If you are the guy who designed the smell reading this please quit your job and go work for a real deodorant company, put this smell you made on a gel or gel stick deodorant so it isn't gross and have someone help you make the smell last longer, then you actually have something going for yourself.

great scent and packaging but irritated my skin
I've been looking for an ideal "natural" deodorant/anti-perspirant for a few years and mostly rely on crystal sticks and sprays as they're non-irritating, non-staining, but they don't hold up well in sweaty conditions or swamp heat. I bought this on a semi-whim instead of buying more Schmidt's, which I'll compare it to them, but also evaluate it on its own. -Staining - This stained polyester and cotton clothes (I've not used it with any other fabrics) with a gungy sticky white-grey substance. It wasn't as bad when I really worked it into my skin or sweat heavily soon after wearing clothes. -Performance - held up well throughout a day that included an exercise session and walking. Note that this is not an antiperspirant but a deodorant. There was some sweat smell peeking through at the end of the day but it performed much better than crystal deodorants, about the same as Schmidt's. -Irritation - This is an individual matter, so you may not have the same reaction I did. I didn't have any clearly bad reaction other than a little itchiness during the first 10 days, but I just developed some redness under both arms, so I'm going to discontinue for a few days and only use this sparingly before workouts from here on out. I've also had irritation with Schmidt's but it didn't occur until a little longer into daily application. -Application - Applies much more smoothly than Schmidt's but it's very easy to overapply, so you need to be gentle. If you press down like you do with typical products, you will put on way too much. -Packaging - Very high quality container with a smooth pushup wheel mechanism (no idea what these are properly called) and screw top. Very heavy thick plastic and attractive label. -Scent - I went with WILDERNESS and was pleased by the blend of fresh evergreen (more in the gentle refreshing fir range than sharp minty pine range), rosemary and thyme herbals, and musky earth. The scent is gentle enough that you may not smell it unless you pop your shirt to fan it, but if you apply a lot you will occasionally sniff it, in contrast to Schmidt's which smells strongly until you wash it off. I'm going to keep an eye on the irritation factor and see if my skin can adjust to this. If it can, I'll buy again. If not, that sucks because I otherwise really liked this product, was excited to try more of their scents.

It's perfect, natural, lasting, no odor at all, amazing natural vetiver fragrance.
I couldn't be happier with this deodorant. The ingredients are natural (some cynics will claim that so is the dart-frog poison, but they miss the point: this is both natural and harmless). The odor protection is perfect (as is with other natural, sodium-bicarbonate / coconut-oil / shea-butter-based formulas, including one we make at home but we rarely have the time to prepare). By "perfect odor protection" I mean your armpits will never smell of anything else but the cleanliness of your skin and the natural essential oils in the formula, from the moment you step out of the shower, to the end of the day, to the morning after (which can't be said about Axe or Old Spice or all those synthetic formulas with elaborate fragrance blends that have never quite convinced me, with which your underarms start gradually stinking at the end of the day). In addition to that, the vetiver fragrance that I picked is amazing: it's fresh, manly, elegant and understated (reminds me of a couple of designer vetiver-based colognes that I once bought and never could find again). But I get to smell just as nice, without the harmful chemicals, preservatives and artificial colors in cologne. Caveat emptor: If you want a 100% natural deodorant, make sure to check back photos for ingredients, for some of the versions of this brand, like the tobacco one, seem to contain "fragrances" instead of natural essential oils. Update: it does stain your clothes if you put on too much, but a little goes a long way. If you're not careful, your shirt armpits can look like you sprinkled olive oil on them. A way I've found to minimize this problem is just doing a couple of superficial strokes (maybe four TBH) and then spread it with my hand to make sure it's absorbed and doesn't end up on my shirt. Occassionally I still will get the oil stain on my shirts if I'm not careful. But nothing an oil stain removing prewash can't solve. The issue beats absorbing harmful chemicals into your body or not protecting you from smelling bad. This is still my favorite deodorant and I still repurchase it every time.

UPDATE: White Shirts and Bad Smells don't stand a chance
UPDATE: Okay, so if I sweat while wearing a white shirt with Sam's Natural deodorant I get big huge mustard yellow stains that, so far have not come out... I'm bumping my star rating down from 5 stars, to 2. I never noticed until now since I don't tend to wear white much at all, but it's certainly a problem. I'll continue wearing with darker colors until I find a good substitution, and won't immediately, completely stop using because it's still VERY good at keeping smelliness at bay for a long time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Review: I had previously found a natural deodorant that worked decently, but was too "gooey" and not as dependable as it could've been (had to apply twice daily, up to 4 times). Despite these issues, it was the best I had found... UNTIL they changed the formula. After my previous choice of natural, aluminum free deodorant went south, the search was back on. I stumbled upon Sam's after regularly Googling in search of an effective (or, more effective than what I had used at the time), natural product. [Note: At this time Sam's products were not yet available on Amazon] It was mentioned in an article along with 10 or so other contenders that I eventually weeded out based on my findings after reading a sampling of all products reviews across multiple sites that sold the contenders, as well as a number of blog reviews and a few other articles. Sam's seemed to be the newest of the products at the time, based on the limited number of reviews and the number of times I found them mentioned across the web. Nonetheless, what I was able to find (mainly from social pages) was positive, the company seemed to know what it was doing, and the active ingredients checked out. After the search\investigation, the biggest problem in this whole process was selecting a scent. I wanted a masculine scent that wasn't overpowering, didn't smell fake, and well... smelled good. keep in mind, at this time i didn't have ANY of these Amazon reviews to read. I chose cedar, and ordered from the Sam's site. After it arrived some 3, 4 days later I tried it on and while the Cedar wasn't quite what I expected, guess what? It WORKED! And not because I applied it 3528652 times in a day, but with just 1 application of 2 light pressured swipes! (1 up, 1 down). Over the next months I went through the stick, and never found myself needing to apply more than once a day (excluding after bathing, after swimming sometimes, etc..) while the scent wasn't really apparent towards the end of the day, there wasn't any BO either so I was a-ok. The next scent I got, and still use is Original. I like the scent a lot better than cedar, they have also changed their packaging from the usual "stick" with a somewhat flimsy cap, to a much higher quality round tube shape with a sturdy screw on cap that seems to keep humidity out better. Original is a nice, spicy\sweet\woody? scent that is quite agreeable. If you can't decide on a scent, try original first and I believe you'll love it, from there you can try out different scents if you like. Final notes: -Obviously not an antiperspirant so if you get hot you will still sweat (it's normal for humans to sweat lol) -Main complaint (from the current reviews) seems to be irritation. I experienced none with either scent I used, but if you think it's possible this might irritate your skin but still want to try, buy original, or better yet unscented (least amount of additional oils\extracts added on top of the base blend), try on a small area of your skin before applying normally, don't apply to scratched or already irritated skin. -2nd main complaint I see is some people are getting pit stains after switching (also didn't happen to me). Don't apply more than 2 light passes, apply to dry skin, if you are switching from an antiperspirant to this product you need to give your body time to detox and sweat out any nastiness that years of antiperspirant s has blocked up, so give yourself time to detox and expect pit stains for a week or 2 if you previously used an antiperspirant. If anyone has any questions, feel free to comment on this review and I'll do my best to answer (: Thank you Sam's, for making a natural, metal free, vegan, great smelling, all around awesome product that WORKS! I'll be a customer for life unless you change for the worst like my previous brand did.
