These melamine or ceramic? Says they aren't microwave safe.

These are ceramic. I think the no microwave warning is because they are now made in China and the paint may not withstand the microwave. The original Portmeirion were made in the UK. Totally dishwasher safe.

I'm not familiar with the plastic version. I own the pottery dishes and use then every day, and yes they microwave, oven and dishwasher safe....
