Has anyone had any luck sharpening this knife? Mine came very dull and I've tried using a 2-stage knife sharpener to no avail.

I’ve been able to sharpen it on a 10cm Opinel sharpening stone.

If i had to use it for protection would it work?

I would get a better knife for protection but it could poke an eye out.

Does this have a locking mechanism?

it is a wonderful knife., but no lock. Just a little folding fish knife.
