I have been looking for a mandolin for a long time. Most of them were either cheaply made or very expensive. The Urban Depot mandolin is great! So far I have used it to slice tomatoes, potatoes, onions, cheese and cucumbers. Each time the mandolin made perfect cuts and it is so easy to use and clean. It is made with steel parts, not plastic and I expect it to last a long time. One of my better purchases. Thank you.

This product is more for hard items like potatoes/cucumbers/etc. everything else gets mushed. Plus even on the biggest setting it slices everything pretty thin.The holder for slicer is pretty useless for the most part so you have to hold fruit/vegetable in your hand while slicing which is not save. Returned product.

It's a lot larger than I expected. It looks like it is well built and it works great.

Very nice. We played with the blade a bit. The quality is good, and it comes with a small plastic storage unit for the extra blades. If you push too hard or try to get the last little bit of veggie sliced, you will end up with black plastic shavings in your food. 😉 Some foods are hard to slice uniformly. This mandolin does a spectacular job on slicing butternut squash. We use that instead of pasta for homemade lasagna. This makes it possible to get perfectly uniform thin slices that cook properly and evenly. I've seen many other reviews that say there are no directions as to what the blades are. That's true, but it is pretty much evident. There are only two cutting styles - slices (like cucumbers, etc) or strips (like fries). There are three blades for various slice thicknesses and two blades for various thicknesses on strips (julienne). There are no cross-cutting blades. Each blade is marked with the size molded into the black plastic. Not the easiest to see, but it's there. We put a rubber band around the extra blades so they stay in the storage unit. Overall, nice addition to the kitchen tools.

This is solid. The blades are easy to change out. The blades are sharp. It is very stable on the counter. It is very easy to clean. I like this slicer alot. I had a terrible one for years but thought that is how they all were. This slicer rocks.

Good quality and sturdy. I do always cut myself but I'm a klutz. Use it all the time. Makes the best french fries you'll ever fry.

Returned the item. Found it difficult to change blades. Felt it was unsafe. Also felt I needed more instruction than the few steps that were on the box.

We make carrot and diakon match sticks for a relish on a weekly basis. Need to find something that slides easier.
