Or is it just when the code is used?** A: I have SmartThings and the answer depends on how in depth you want to get. At the basic level you can have the SmartThings security app notify you if the door locks or unlocks. There is also the Smart Locks app that you can get from the marketplace that adds some additional configurations (like setting up one time access codes and what not). In addition, you can also create or download custom apps that give you even more flexibility. For example, my kids have their own access codes to the door, I get a text message that says, "Kids Home" if they unlock the door, a different message if someone uses a key or sends a remote unlock command (via an app), and an alert message if someone enters a panic code on the door (eg 9111). You can also create apps that do different things depending on the doors status. For example, my house alarm automatically disarms if someone puts in a valid code, but automatically triggers if someone enters the panic code. **Q: I've installed the Lock and it is working well. Very happy with this purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easiest way to make your house smarter and easier to use in high traffic doorways *by B***E on 17 February 2020* If you have a door with a deadbolt that has plenty of traffic this is the deadbolt for you. Personal Experience: My family uses our man door on the side of our house for nearly everything, from walking the dog to going out back to taking out the trash it is the most heavily trafficked doorway. After a few instances where I was taking late night walks with the dogs and didn't want to fumble with keys in below freezing temperatures I decided to upgrade to this Z-Wave Deadbolt. Since I installed the deadbolt I have been extremely pleased with its performance. The electronic locking and unlocking features are so simple my 5/yo is able to lock/unlock while I get the dogs ready or cleaned up before going on a walk or into the garage. I also have a home hub which took less time to recognize the device than I spent physically installing the deadbolt (always a win). Having the deadbolt connect to my SmartThings Hub quickly was a huge plus because I hate spending tons of time setting up electronics that should be simple. One of the biggest benefits (IMHO) of connecting the deadbolt to my SmartThings is that I get notifications if the deadbolt is left open longer than an hour. I can also check the status of the lock before I go to bed, because if you are like me, you lay in bed unable to sleep and try to remember if you locked to door until you drag your butt out of bed to check. This unit does use batteries so just be aware that you are going to change them based on your habits, if you use the electronic features a lot you will need to swap out batteries more often. If I get 6 months of battery life based on the amount of traffic I expect than I am very pleased. Finally was the aesthetics of the product is in line with the door knob that I had so the new deadbolt did not look out of place after everything was completed.
