On "Melodia" he composes compassionate relaxing pieces that are symphonic in scope. -- J-Sin, Editor, Smother.net February 2006 P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Artist "’Melodia’, to me, evokes a land of melodies, where each tune is an exit visa to a different place or experience." ---Gary Schnitzer Rich with expression, each track on "Melodia" is a unique vignette, ushering you to a special special place and into a special experience. "Appalachia" brings you to the mountains, yet has the warmth and soul of a hymn. "Ice Lake" evokes the mysterious, yet majestic beauty of an expansive winter landscape. "Salute to the Torchbearer" evokes the classic beauty and nobility of the Statue of Liberty. "Merry Go Round Waltz" returns you to the innocence and joy of childhood. "Midnight Prayer" is the soul's lyric call to the mystery of the night, yearning to soar beyond it's boundaries..... "Melodia" is Gary Schnitzer's first CD of his own original music. His first six CD's are lush and elegant musical arrangements of already popular romantic melodies, featuring the solo violin as "torch" singer accompanied by an instrumental ensemble. "Melodia" has a much larger symphonic sound than Gary's previous CD's. However, Gary's passionate and lyric violin solos still play the starring role. Melodia is a full 54 minutes and 14 seconds long. Long enough to take your spirit on an enchanting magic carpet ride though a full range of feeling. About the Artist After many years as a symphony violinist, Gary branched out to form his own ensemble of musicians to perform live at a variety of social and business events. Within a short time he decided to not only play, but also record with the musicians he most enjoyed – all world class performers. Now a producer, performer and recording artist of multiple CDs, Gary has created his own style, which is a synthesis of classical, swing, jazz, and romantic pop music. He arranges full instrumental pieces with strings, piano, guitar, French horns, oboe, and of course, his own solo violin work. His recordings with ensembles are instrumentals of classic and popular, often sentimental melodies. Most have been recorded live in the studio resulting in an engaging, lush sound of concert hall quality. Each performance, whether a romantic wedding song, a holiday classic or a contemporary favorite is crisp and perfected. Gary has been Concertmaster (first chair violinist) with the internationally acclaimed Mantovani Orchestra, and a titled member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in New York. In his native Dallas area, he was Concertmaster of the Richardson Symphony, and also a member of the Fort Worth Symphony and the Dallas Chamber Orchestra. Gary has also performed in back up orchestras for such celebrated singers as Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Roberta Flack, Chuck Mangione, Toni Tennille, and others. He was trained as a classical musician, holds a Master’s degree from Yale School of Music, and has spent most of his professional life as a classical violinist and symphony player. With his new CD "Melodia", Gary debuts his skills as a composer as well as violinist. See more

Absolutely awe-inspiring!
As a musician myself, I would highly recommend this album to anyone who wants to embark on an uplifting voyage. Comfortably curled up on a velvety Persian magic rug wouldn't adequately describe it.The album is a magical tour de force that effortlessly whisks you to a whole new plane of sensations. For example, Out of the Darkness offers a promise of hope, an impending spring, blooming flora.Gary's composition is a seamless amalgamation of different themes and genres (classical and contemporary). Every unique piece tells its own story. The music is so beguiling that I was hard pressed to pick my favorites. However, I particularly connnected with Out of the Darkness, Ice Lake, Last Waltz and Salute to the Torchbearer.I got the CD five days ago, and have been playing it incessantly since. Household morale has never been higher :)Bravo Gary!

a truly unique recording
Gary Schnitzer's "Melodia" is a wonderful recording. The man is a true viruoso on the violin who knows how to make his instrument sing. What sets this musical collection apart from Schnitzer's earlier projects is that he composed the music - every song on the CD. A gifted composer who has a real knack for writing a gorgeous melody, Schnitzer has produced some of the most beautiful contemporary Classical music on the market today. Evoking the sound of an epic film, this music provides the perfect setting for the solo violin.

Melodia is Gary Schnitzer's most evocative collection yet!
While Gary's music has always moved my emotions, MELODIA is his most consistently evocative collection to date. The pure tones of his violin send shivers of delight, even bliss, throughout my body, and the melodies arouse the full range of emotions - especially the high endorphin producing ones! (Guys, this CD will get your woman in the mood!)
