performance is outstanding
If you are tired of not being able to see while backing up, then these reverse lights are for you. the halogen bulbs sucked and seemed to always burn out. these lights worked perfectly. they are a little bigger and fell out of the socket but after messing with the contacts in the socket it held it perfect. These lights are bright and lasted longer then other brands.

Great lights. Amazon wrong: DOESN'T fit Gen 1 Highlander
I bought these for the dull backup lights in my 2006 Highlander, and Amazon assured me that these fit. THEY DON'T. 2006 takes a 7440 (7443) wedge base. This is a 912 size . Wrong size; it's way too narrow. It won't match the electrical contacts at all. Fortunately, I also own a gen 3 and a gen 4 Highlander. I put these in my 2018 and they are truly bright, on a par with headlights. The reverse camera can now see much better, I can see better, and I can be seen better. Ver nice lights, but not for gen 1 Highlanders, despite Amazon telling you that they will fit.

Drains battery? Update: JK, they're great! Replaced old battery.
Two other reviews here mention this. I tried to install two bulbs last night in my 2011 Honda CR-Z. My car's 12v battery was dead within five minutes of plugging the first one in and testing it. What could be going on here? With the car off, I left the shifter in R and turned the key to Run. The first bulb flashed quickly and then went dark and wouldn't light again. Tried with both sockets and both bulbs, then the battery died for good, which has never happened before. I had to put it on the charger to start the car again. Will try again tonight with a fully charged battery. UPDATE MAY 2019: "Tonight" of course, became "in a few months". Disregard my prior review. As feared, I jumped to conclusions. My tiny 12v battery was dead at 8 years of age. I didn't realize it was the original battery! After a few days of jumping the poor thing everywhere I went, I got a brand new battery and everything has worked perfectly for a few months now. Reverse bulbs fit fine and are pretty bright. Excellent value for the price. Few people have my exact car, but for just that reason I'll offer that rarely-found installation advice to anyone who does: Don't be afraid to yank those light housings straight out! They're stuck in there pretty firmly with plastic clips. After you undo the two screws under the panel by the lift gate, just get a decent grip from both sides and pull straight back until they surrender. First try took me 5-10 minutes because I didn't want to break something. Second time took about 60 seconds each since I now know they're just playing hard to get. A plastic panel removal tool or spatula helps to get the pointy end away from the body panels. Update October 2023: Still work, still bright, still cheap!

Best bulb and company out of many
Short and to the point read here๐๐ป: Bright, no flicker, sturdy construction that stays put in the housing and the most important, the output on reverse camera is fantastic. Some bulbs wash out but these are amazing. Long and excessively wordy read here๐๐ป: Out of the numerous and I mean NUMEROUS bulbs/bulb companies Iโve tried over the years, JDM ASTAR still prove to be the best bulb around. Now, that isnโt to say that there arenโt comparable bulbs to these guys but from my own experience, these guys make a solid led. Iโve hunted for budget bulbs of a lower price but always end up spending just as much replacing them when the company doesnโt respond. Headlight markers, front turn signals, reverse lights and tail turn signals are all from these guys and for 3+ years Iโve had no issues. But I just had my first JDM ASTAR bulb EVER start to flicker and they stood behind their bulb 100% and got a new one to my door 3 days later. The bulb didnโt fail, but I simply inquired as to whatโs going on and they hooked it up. Side note/knowledge. IF you have a Subaru and your reverse cam is giving you issues after installing ledโs like not turning on combined with the lights not illuminating...the problem is not the lights but the resistance. Just like the infamous hyperflash caused by lower voltage being seen by the car electronics a 50w 6ohm resistor on each reverse light will fix the issue. It may not be the fix for everyone as I havenโt tried anything but a 2017 Subaru. End of line

My third set. Lights up the night like crazy. Not for Crosstrek
I bought and installed these on a Ford Ranger, and Lexus ES350. These make A HUGE difference in visibility. The regular incandescent bulbs are dark compared to these. Bright white light and he's backup camera work better. The Ranger doesn't have a camera and this helps even more when it's pitch black out. You can see details not possible with the OEM bulb. Plus, others can definitely see you being up! Your car lens reflectors will affect how brilliantly the light performs in your application, but it worked for me. Helps me not too over the grass and plants backing out of driveway at night. It's crazy how effective these are compared to OEM and other cheaper bulbs. I searched for this company's bulbs each time I was in the market for them because of their performance. Amazon indicated this part number was correct for the Subaru Crosstrek but it's not. The bulb is too small. The correct part number is 7440 even though if you search by number it tells you it's not right for the Crosstrek.

Have a Nissan? Plan to replace the whole taillight assembly after you break it.
This review will be two parts: first, a review of the bulb. Second, a public lambasting of the Nissan engineering team. First, the bulb. It's huge and bright. It's super easy to plug in. It may be so big that it might not fit in your application. It did for in mine, although it's so heavy I kind of wonder if it will stay put. Which brings me to the second portion of this review. Whoever designed the taillight assembly for the Nissan Maxima (and presumably the Altima, as well as similar Infinity models), should be ashamed. Their mothers should be ashamed. You know the old adage, "how many X does it take to change a lightbulb?" In the case of Nissan I figure it takes at least four: someone to attempt what should be the simple task of changing a bulb (me), someone to break the taillight attempting to remove it (me)--even after watching YouTube how-to videos, someone to take my order for a new taillight assembly, someone to process the order, someone to ship the order, someone to deliver the order, and someone to install the new taillight (me). Oh, and someone who thought they learned their lesson on the passenger side (using a screwdriver is not good; get the right tools) and so ordered a panel removal tool for the driver's side and then quickly broke that assembly TWICE. Seriously, I do a lot of work on my cars and have for decades. This was nearly the most challenging thing I've ever faced, and certainly the least successful I've been. Did I get the bulbs in? Yes. Do they look great? Yes. Did I break both light assemblies? Yes. Would I do it again? Not if you paid me. Basically, if you own a Nissan (or, likely, an Infinity) and a bulb goes out in your car, plan to just buy whole new assemblies. They come with bulbs and *only* run about $60 each side.

Buy these amazing lights!
installed in my 2012 kia Rio hatch, reverse lights. Live in an area with no light "pollution". Incredible brightness and clarity. These cars have almost zero visibility backing up to begin with, but these lights were like having mini driving lights out the rear. That being said, the only downside was the loose fitment. They wobbled. On a 2012 kia Rio hatch, the reverse lights are mounted in the housing integrated into the hatch. After (roughly) 5 openings /closing of the hatch, they fell out. Like, out. As in, inside the light housing. To remove this section of the taillight, I removed the inner skin, and unplugged one connector, and removed 3x 10mm nut heads. Once the assembly was out, I spent a ridiculous amount of time shaking the taillight assembly until the spade end of the bulb was in a good place and with 8" needle nose pliers was able to get it out. Once out I plugged it back in, and with entire assembly out, added crazy glue to the points where bulb base met the plastic socket. There are multiple "ribs" that are supposed to grip the bulb. This is where I used the crazy glue. It's cold here right now, so I used a shop light to help cure it faster. I'll upload a photo. However, with all that said, would totally recommend and am buying another set for the wife's 2016 Sedona van. Well worth it!

Very bright, but one had failed after 6 months.
They are extremely bright and exactly what I hoped for, much more light for reversing. Sadly 6 months on and one has failed, so I can't give it the 5 stars the performance is worth when it has only lasted for such a short time.

Nice, bright replacement for standard incandescents
Great replacement of the standard incandescent reverse bulbs on my car. The light is cool white and very bright - brighter than the stock bulb. No problem fitting into my car's reverse light bulb socket nor any problems fitting into the reflector/lens unit. It looks amazing!
