Review: Balance Ball is the Right Size - Most of the customer reviews are right that the ball arrives in a smaller size. However, if you follow the instructions that the company states the ball is the right size. I purchase the ball to replace the original ball to my chair. When my balance ball arrived, it was smaller, but I filled up the ball, waited a day, or overnight (either way, the ball just needs time to stretch). The next day, I deflated the ball about 50% then inflate the ball with my air compressor. Guess what? The ball was the right size to fit into the chair. The material of the ball feels more durable than the original ball (maybe that's why the ball needs time to stretch). Take the reviews as a grain of salt. The company, in its description, states that the ball needs time to stretch and estimate how long to wait. The ball is the right size, just read and follow directions! Review: It takes time to stretch! - This is the second ball I've needed for my chair and I thought I bought the right one but when I got it and blew it up it was so SMALL! They say to blow it up, let it sit a day, deflate it, then blow it up again to stretch it out enough. I measured it over and over, let air out and filled it up 3 times in the first 4 days, and still it was only 38cm max when it should have been 52. It does make a difference since the chair is already so short. Anyway, I let it sit for like 2 weeks then tried filling it up again and low and behold it stretched out A LOT, it can go to 56cm. I was worried I'd have to send it back, but it just takes a lot of time to stretch out. The first one did not, though.

Amazing chair & value
I'm on my second ball after the first finally popped after several years of use!! I re-inflate maybe 1-2 times per year, and eventually it will stretch out, but these are so affordable, especially compared to a normal office chair!! Can use this for physical therapy and exercise as well. Don't let the kids kick it around however. Not a toy, but capable of my sadly now 200lb butt. Love the chair & glad to have found a replacement to swap in that's been holding up equally as great!

Patience is a virtue!
I've been using this type of chair for many years. I'm 5'8" / 215#, So I'm pretty hard on it. I'm on my 2nd chair frame and 3rd ball. Yes, the ball is alarmingly small at first. You must inflate several times to get it to the right size. Sitting on it will help stretch the plastic because your body heat softens it up significantly. It usually takes me a few days to get it where I like it because I use it for office work and I need it to sit tall. Mine has always come with a new hand pump. I use an electric pump to do the most work, but the hand pump really helps pack it more full at the end. I appreciate the many color options. I do wish it was easier to inflate, but hey, you can't have everything. This thing has been a life saver for my back problems!

It's a grower.. not a shower
Okay so I ordered this replacement ball and inflated it when I got it... the thing was at least 15cm too small! Disappointed, I came to the reviews here and read that others had experienced the same thing, but most had success when inflating it over a few days. It took me less than 24 hours to get it to the right size. Just inflate it as much as you can, let it sit, and come back in a few hours/overnight and do it again. Rinse and repeat until it's fully grown, lol. GIVE IT TIME y'all.

Love my Chair
The chair has been perfect until my cat decided to use her claws on it. The ball of course didn’t hold up so this is a replacement. I wish they offered a cover as now the third ball!!!

Sitting on this ball has made walking and sleeping painful
Unfortunately for me, I didn't believe the people who reported that the ball being sold here is smaller than the ball which comes with the chair. I assumed that those people didn't follow the instructions to deflate and then re-inflate the ball after a couple of days. I had successfully deflated and re-inflated the ball which came with my chair, so I knew what I was doing. And I paid the price for being so smug. This replacement ball is from the same company and has the same item number as the original, but it's visibly smaller right out of the package. After the initial inflation it was still visibly smaller, but I assumed it would stretch out more each time it was deflated and re-inflated. I have now gone through that process twice a week for 5 weeks, 10 times total, and it's still too small. Although the ball fits inside of the chair frame, the bottom of it squeezes down through the opening in the bottom giving it a vague sort of tear drop shape. But the size is a real problem because it now gives me a backache. The original ball was a pleasure to sit on for hours every day, this one has made walking and sleeping painful. I hope that reps from Gaiam monitor these reviews, although others have commented that Gaiam is denying that there's a problem. I'm giving up on them and am going to order a higher quality ball from another company. My body deserves better.

Ball needs to stretch in order to inflate to correct diameter
After I received my ball and pumped it up with the hand pump that came with the original ball and chair, I found that it was much too small for my chair and prepared to return the item. Then I read some of the reviews and found that the ball needs to be inflated as much as possible so that it's tight and then left to stretch for a bit. I used our air compressor and let mine sit overnight, about 8 hours. In the morning the ball was softer and I was able to add more air. I brought it back to work with me and it fits perfectly! Very happy to not have to return and try to find a ball that 'fits'!

Will puncture in about 1 year
I have purchased this product three times and the first two punctured after a year of use. I contacted the Gaiam and told me that the ball has a warranty of only 30 days. Everything about this ball is great. I purchased the whole kit (holding ball chair and ball) at Costco about 2 years ago and the frame still works. As I have not found an alternative yet, so I keep buying the ball when it punctures... as I use this ball when working remotely from home.
