Electric Egg Bites Cooker, Poacher & Hard Boiler

SAFETY NOTE: >>>I love this convenient little poacher but Do Not touch the top rim when hot....Only touch the appropriate plastic handle tabs.<<< Note: There is no ON/OFF switch, poacher must be plugged in to turn on and unplugged to turn off. ...the larger 4 egg poacher model has an on/off switch if you desire but I don't mind plugging the device in or out which prevents accidental turn on that could happen with a switched type unit if for example on a cluttered tabletop another object inadvertently bumps against the switch. Well built little poacher....feels solid, compact but weighty for it's size and stable on the table top not likely to tip over, I like how the dual egg holder is non-stick and easy to rinse off. I can use this on the kitchen table top or counter without having to heat up the stove and use pots and pans also great for traveling and RV'ing and having poached eggs or making Egg Bite style recipes with a carton of liquid eggs (I particularly like the Southwestern flavored liquid eggs with a few crumbles of pre-cooked browned sausage which I keep in the freezer and thaw a bit before putting in egg cup). I use my watch or a little timer set for 6-7 minutes to alert me when it's done while I'm getting ready for the morning. Love it for ease of use and consistent results, to achieve your desired doneness you can poach eggs with runny to hard set yolks by varying the amount of water in the reservoir and watching the cook times from 4 to 5 to 6 minutes, I prefer the 100 ml water volume which gives me soft set yolk in about 6-7 minutes. The water comes to a steaming boil very quickly so do not plug in until you have added the water to the reservoir and eggs to the cups, I use some spray butter flavored oil in the cups. NOTE: The machine does get very hot on some parts especially the rim so Do Not Handle when hot....Only touch the plastic handles of the top lid and the egg cup handle until it cools off....The first time I used it I picked it up by the top rim and burned my fingertips So Be Careful (note: Minor burns are helped If you immediately run cool water on the area, the swelling/blistering and pain will be significantly reduced) .....water mineral deposits will coat the reservoir and you can probably leave those to be cleaned periodically with a vinegar solution but I usually wipe those out after the machine cools with a wet paper towel.

This is a great little product. I use it almost daily. I love making egg bites for breakfast. I can add spices or cheese and they are ready in about 6 minutes. I pop them in a ziplock and toss them in my lunch bag. Sometimes I put them on an English muffin with a piece of cheese. I also use them weekly for hard boiled eggs for salads and snacks. Works great. So easy and perfect eggs. The color is cute and it is easy to store, although it just stays on the counter. We have chickens, so eggs are a staple.

I'll start off by saying that this works for what I need and I'm happy I bought it. I mainly bought it to do boiled eggs. I never could get them quite right in a pan. There were a few surprises in using the machine, for me at least. As I said, I mainly bought for boiled eggs. I have used the double cups for cooking two poached eggs. I would definitely recommend spraying the cups with cooking spray so the eggs fully release. Without spray my eggs stuck and left residue in the cups. Instruction book: You HAVE to keep the instruction book close and with the machine as the way this machine works is by the amount of water you put in the base. For example, if you want soft boiled eggs you use less water. Medium or hard boiled you use increasing amounts of water. If you are cooking a different number of eggs that changes the water also. The charts to tell you how much water to use are in the book and so you will need to reference each time depending on what you are cooking. For 6 eggs hard boiled the amount of water is 120ml. Strikes me a bit strange the measuring up does not go to this amount. Goes to 100 and so you have to do the 100 and then the 20 to fill the base. Not a biggie, but you'd think the measuring cup included would just go to the highest capacity needed to use the cooker. This is perhaps a preconception I had, but I expected the pieces of the cooker to solidly mount together. They don't. To cook boiled eggs the tray they fit in has sort of a silicone base piece on the plastic that sits in the water heating well. Then the lid piece just sort of sits loose propped on top. Obviously you need some ventilation of the steam or it would just explode, but I did expect a more positive fit rather than the lid just propped on the top. In use the machine can emit quite a bit of steam and be quite hot. NOT something you want to use in an area easily accessible to children or near something that you don't want steam getting on. Also, I wish the machine was a bit more high tech. You plug it in and it is heating and working as soon as you do. So, fill with water first, put your items to cook in and when you are all set to go, then you plug it in. When you want to turn the machine off, you unplug it. In use, you put the water in, load the machine, get everything propped together and then plug it in. The Red and Green lights come on. The red light is the power light and the green light is the cooking light. When the machine runs out of water the green "cooking" light goes off (thus the need to vary the amount of water depending on what you are cooking). You have to unplug the machine to turn it off. I would have much preferred the machine to: 1. Have an on and off switch 2. Have a power light that came on that indicated that the machine was on and cooking and then, 3. Have the green light come on only when it needed to indicate the item was cooked. 4. When the green light comes on for cooked, the machine would then automatically power off without needing to be unplugged. 5. Maybe picky, but would be nice if the machine gave a short noise of some type to let you know that it is done. Sure, maybe there are other machines out there that do all of that. I would assume at a higher price, don't know. This machine got good reviews and so I went with this one. As I said at the start, it works for what I need and I'm happy I bought it. Just wish I did not feel that I had to hang around and watch it to make sure I caught it when the eggs were done so I could unplug it. I've started timing it (done once so far) and once I have a couple of times under my belt I'll get it going and then set the timer to let me know when to go back and deal with the cooked eggs. Quality of cook? In boiled eggs I've only done 6 at a time so far. I've used the water amount that was for medium boiled and hard boiled. Both came out perfectly. Only issue was the medium, even though I placed the eggs in ice water as it said, but the time I could get the last couple of eggs peeled, they inside was starting to get more solid than I wanted. Otherwise, no complaints. Nice to have consistently cooked eggs. Would I buy again? Sure. It works for what I want. It is pretty basic to say the least, but then perhaps there is consistency in basic.

We love this for making poached eggs. Easy, quick and they come out perfect!! We have given several as gifts.

This is a great kitchen tool. Easy to use, but you have to follow the ratios of egg to milk and also the amount of water in the bottom area. I love throwing in a variety of spices or cheeses. One thing I do most of the time is to add a tablespoon of cream cheese. 😋 Some are concerned because it does not have a timer. But I found a workaround by making the egg bites and setting my stopwatch to get the typical amount of time it takes. It also is likely to have a hard water residue in the bottom compartment, which is no big deal — I appreciate the other reviews warning me about this. I think this could make a nice gift for someone who loves SB egg bites.

I bought this to replace another electric egg cooker (that came with a plastic dome), and I'm happier with this one. It's easy to make egg bites, though they don't quite turn out like the sous vide bites sold at a major coffee chain (texture is a bit different, spongier). You really can't beat the convenience: instead of standing over a stove to make scrambled eggs, I pour them in and go do the Wordle while they cook. I primarily got it for the hard boiled egg feature. It accomodates XL eggs (my old one did not). It also makes perfectly jammy medium-boiled eggs (this is how my wife likes her eggs). I used this to make deviled eggs for Thanksgiving, and it made it really, really easy. My only complaint: why not have a chime or ding when the eggs are done? On this one, a light cuts off to alert you that it's done and that's it. It does get quiet when it's close to being done (steaming/boiling noise to quiet), but if you're not paying attention you might get discolored yolks or overdone eggs.

So, I love this thing. But unfortunately after using it a few times the bottom water reservoir area has completely rusted out. No when I cook hard boiled eggs they have a layer of rust all over the bottom. Disappointing because otherwise it is a fantastic product. the hard-boiled eggs peel like a dream and the egg bites turn out light and fluffy. And it is SO easy to use. I have never had an issue with this brands products before, so I think maybe mine is just a fluke. But still3 stars because I think it is a really useful and efficient tool to have. We eat a lot of eggs in our family so we will be trying again and upgrading to the "Plus" version of this product. I would still recommend this product. From other reviews this doesn't seem to be a common problem.

For some time I’ve used a traditional poacher that uses a pan of boiling water and a glass lid. I like it, but this one is safer, easier and quicker to use. The only problem is that you have to know when to pull the electric plug. I use a timer on my watch that I set for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. This depends on whether you like the yolks runny or hard. Some experimental work needs to be done to find the right amount of time for personal preferences. What I especially like about it is that all the operations can be safely done without hand protection. The water container and the egg cups are easy to clean. A simple on/off switch would be a helpful improvement, but I’m ok with only pulling the electric plug.
