A good read
I bought this first without purchasing the first book which is important when establishing the relationship between Cyrus. An interesting plot which is developed in this book. Easy to read, wasn’t too taxing but lost a star because it lacked oomph and the plot was a little slow, and elongated in places. Yes you got answers but the ending was open. Worth a read but read the first one before so you can understand the dynamic.

Brilliant follow up to Good girl, bad girl
I just love this series. As other reviewers have said, you need to have read the first book to understand the relationship between Cyrus & Evie. We find out more about both of them in this book. Again Cyrus is helping the police track down a twisted killer or 2. Along the way both he & Evie put themselves into serious danger, as secrets from her past threaten to catch up with them. As you'd expect, both guilty & innocent people die during the course of events. Page turning thriller that keeps you guessing. As the ending left me wanting more I was glad that I'd ordered the next in the series whiilst reading this one. I've since found there's a 4th book out now, which I expect to be buying at some point in the future. 5 stars from me for a thoroughly entertaining read again.

I couldn’t put this down
This is the second book of a four book series and will make more sense if you’ve already read Book 1. Evie has been through terrible times, she lives in constant fear, trusting no one with good reason. Cyrus Haven is a consultant psychologist and in Book 1 Evie was released into his custody. Now it seems he is the one person who can protect her. This book moves at break neck speed from one frightening incident to the next as they try to keep one step ahead of powerful enemies. No one can be trusted. The story is interspersed with flashbacks of a young girl, terrified but determined to survive. The story races along, it takes a couple of chapters to set the scene and then you won’t want to put it down.

*Revelations*
**4.5 Stars** This is book 2 of 4 in the ‘Cyrus Haven’ series. He is a Forensic Psychologist who is like a dog with a bone. He went through a childhood trauma that in a way gives him a connection to Evie Cormac. Evie went through a horrific past that is being uncovered as the book progresses. She has a gift that so far only Cyrus understands. She wants to trust him but her past makes her understandably guarded. Cyrus knows there is still so much she has not revealed. He still does not know her real name. The people that were involved in Evie’s past want her dead. These are people high up who have influence. In Cyrus’s bid to find out the truth it means that even though he works with the police he trusts very few of them. As more is revealed in his quest to help Evie by revisiting a place from her past, will he wish he never tried to lift this terrible can of worms as they both end up in danger…..

A FANTASTIC BOOK!
I have all of Michael Robotham's books and have enjoyed each and every one. The Joe O'Loughlin series is great and The Secrets She Keeps was recently made into a telly miniseries, which was very good. I read "Good Girl, Bad Girl" and fell in love with Cyrus Haven and Evie Comer. I eagerly awaited the second in the series and "When She Was Good" exceeded my expectations. I had longed to know all the truth surrounding Evie and this book delivered. It is so hard not to give too much of the plots of these two books away, but it does present a view of a broken girl who survives horrendous treatment and the forensic psychologist who tries to put the pieces of her life back together and find justice for those who caused such horrific trauma. It is beautfully written, heart-breaking and utterly compelling. Please, please Mr Robotham, carry us forward on Evie and Cyrus's journey. I can't bear to part with them.

Recommended but not as good as the first book in the series
One of my favourite authors but this second book in the Cyrus Haven series didn’t live up to my expectations. There was more information on the traumatic backgrounds of the two main characters revealed but not much of a gripping plot. Unfortunately, the theme behind the plot was historical abuse which has been churned out now by so many authors that it does become a tedious topic. In this book, the reason for Evie being incognito is established: victim of abuse, involving powerful people who believe they are above the law. It is Cyrus’s meddling to find the truth that begins a ‘waterfall’ of activities to quieten witnesses/victims. I recommend this book because it is far better than many of this genre but as previously mentioned, a disappointing second book of the series.

Brilliant
I loved this book, such a great follow on from the original. The character of Evie gets better with each book. The plot is so cleverly written. So many different characters and yet they slit together seamlessly. The horrors of Evie's life are heartbreaking, but you can't stop reading. You get drawn right into the story. Look out book 3 here i come.

Excellent and spellbinding
The second in the series and once again (as with the first one) I had to force myself to stop reading otherwise I wouldn't have eaten or done anything else. I love Michael's books. They are all excellent and gripping. I've read quite a few and can't wait to get some more!

When a book is good, it's very good
This the second book in this series about Cyrus and troubled teenager, Evie, and hope it's not the last one. The books are quick reads with lots of unexpected twists and turns which kept me intrigued. Cyrus, a forensic psychologist, was called in to assist with solving the mystery of Evie Cormac, a child who was found neglected and sexually abused hiding in a secret room with a tortured dead man and rotting on the other side. This book takes up where "Good Girl, Bad Girl," left off. Because this appears to be an author from the UK you'll find some interesting use of terms such as knickers for underwear. I really enjoyed this book and author and look forward to reading all of his books.
