Amazing suction, Easy to Maneuver
I am handicapped and have a difficult time with heavy items. This vacuum is lightweight, very easy to maneuver on the carpet. It has 4 different height levels that are easy to adjust to any type of floor setting. I love that it has a swivel handle making it easier maneuvering around furniture. My previous vacuum wasn't working very well. When I used this vacuum, I was amazed at how much was lifted from the carpet. I have 3 Boxers that shed, but WOW, the hair I removed made me realize how badly the previous vacuum performed. I was a bit skeptical that Brush-roll wouldn't have a build-up from my long hair, all tangled around it. To my amazement, there were none. The difference in this brush-roll design is what keeps debris from getting tangled around it. The attachment tools all work well. Storing the attachments on the vacuum is awesome; however, there isn't a place to store the Upholstery Tool when not in use. This is a disappointment not having all tools together and possibly misplacing a tool. The filters are easy to remove and clean. The 30' power cord is great, allowing me to move throughout different rooms without stopping and having to plug it in again. The vacuum comes with a Use & Care Guide manual, which I found extremely helpful. As well as a 2 sided laminated guide. The price is very reasonable. Overall, I am very happy with my new Kenmore DU1275 . Final note: I did purchase a 2-year warranty for it, in case something might happen and need repaired or replaced. I would highly recommend the Kenmore DU1275 Upright Vacuum.

Amazing vacuum! But unusually noisy after the first use
The vacuum is powerful at cleaning and the swivel steering makes it wonderfully easy to maneuver. Overall a great product that I would recommend! The only small issue is that the vacuum became unusually noisy after the first use. It worked normally on hard floors and carpet right out of the package, but every time after that it made an excessively loud noise on hard floors and slightly less loud on carpet. I followed the user manual recommendations to clear the airways and dust containers, but the loud noise persists. I’ve tried adjusting the height from low to medium to high, without any change in the noise level. Other than being a bit louder than normal, it works perfectly! The extremely flexible swivel steering is my favorite feature, making it so much easier to maneuver tight spaces and corners than any vacuum I’ve used before. The dust pickup is really powerful and the cleanup is hands free, which I love! Just press a button over the trash can and it’s empty. It’s relatively lightweight for how powerful it is. It would be an improvement to have an automatic retractable cord, but a normal cord works fine too. Overall, this is a really great vacuum for a great price, especially if you can get it on sale!

Excellent Vacuum - Suction Power, Maneuverability and Deep Cleaning - Excellent
My husband and I just replaced our carpet with a high quality 25 year plush carpet and love it! We purchased the home with a pre-existing carpenter grade carpet and my Shark Sweeper was just perfect for the job. However, the plush carpet is another beast that definitely required a higher quality vacuum for the job. I looked at Shark and Dyson but did not want to spend that much money on a higher quality vacuum. I am a Gen X lady and saw that there was a Kenmore Vacuum available for less money and several attachments were included for no additional charge. The Kenmore brand was carried by Sears and had a stellar reputation for quality "back in the day". While Sears no longer exists the brand was picked up by another manufacturer and boy I am thankful they did. I hate to say it but Shark doesn't have a thing on this model of Kenmore vacuum!!!!! Three main things on this vacuum that I love with one possible CON: 1. The canister on the vacuum is very easy to empty with nothing inside for debris to get caught on... Because NO ONE WANT TO STICK THERE HAND IN THE DEBRIS CANISTER!!!!!!! AND it can be emptied with one hand - which might be helpful for some folks. 2. When you need the extension for cleaning it is very easy to access and use. This may sound like I am being picky but I had a very difficult time getting the extension off of the (Shark vacuum) which I use almost every time I use the vacuum. The extension can be accessed and used with one hand as well. 3. Ease of Assembly - Only 1 screw to attach the handle to the vacuum - The screw is large and easy to handle so if you have issues with manual dexterity you should be fine. Possible Con: If there are any draw backs it would be the weight which was 6 lbs heavier than my other vacuum at 14 lbs. However, my new carpet requires a more power. If you just need the vacuum for the main floor and your stay on that main floor you should be fine.

Died within 4 months of light use!
*!*update*!* Dealing with Kenmore was a nightmare! Even though we have the extended warranty, the first year is "covered" by Kenmore and Amazon won't do anything! Amazon informed me I must deal with Kenmore. The process with Kenmore to get them to honor their warranty is DESIGNED to be so hard that you just give up. They want photos of the vacuum, then a "live test" while on the phone with the "help guy" that you wait on hold for almost an hour for. Then, a video of another test!, YES, I had to send a video of it not working, of pluging it in, then trying to turn it on. Everything I had just done, by "steps" in detail on the phone. Then they have you cut the cord and send a faxed picture of that! Then PRINT out a form, then they want that sent back by FAX. Then you have to try to get the ID lable off the bottom of machiene, stick it to a white paper then send proof of that as well. Also multiple forms sent to email and filled out, printed out, signed and sent back! Then, AFTER they approve your claim, a process that I was told can take several weeks, they will begin the process of sending a new vacuum, that can take 4 to 6 weeks additionaltime! I will never buy another Kenmore vacuum again! They were always my "go to" brand but have gone so far down in quality. This "process" was the final straw! If I did not have a fax and copy machine, I would have had to make multiple trips to a copy center as the process gets drug out over several communications!(including one scheduled return call) I was told that "this is how they want it, no other way"! You are left with no vacuum for several months unless you buy another! (Good bye, from a former loyal customer) Lasted 3 montha of light use! Died Christmas day! This was used only about 9/10 times on shorter carpet, some bare floors. Simply shut off. Nothing clogged, nothing overheating, no broken belt. Simply up and died! It had a really good size dust cup, they are so small in most vacuum cleaners. This model is made of THIN CHEAP plastic, it rattled as you used it. Seriously, my grandchildren have toys made better than this. Come on Kenmore. Do better.

Best vacuum ever!
I’ve had this vacuum for five years and it still works just as good as it did on day one. I had a Kirby for 30 years. This is the second vacuum I’ve ever owned. The suction is amazing and yes, the hose part should be longer, but that’s really my only complaint besides the attachment falling off from time to time. I just keep it separate. I wouldn’t listen to all these negative reviews because I think people just aren’t cleaning it. You have to clean it as far as taking the filter or actually sponge part out and washing it from time to time you’ll be amazed at how much dirt it picks up that you had no idea you had because the suction so amazing.

MY APARTMENT IS CLEEAAAAANNN!!!
I have been needing a new vacuum for AGES now, my old one only really worked with the handheld suction tube as the main roller head was not working as well as it used to, so this was a long time coming. I saved up and searched around and got this baby b/c of the petmate attachments. I'd just adopted some kitties back in January so my living room, kitchen rugs, and bedrooms were a fuzzy mess from the cats and no proper vacuum to clean up after them. Needless to say I was excited to get this one. I wasted zero time when it arrived to get it out and get cleaning. Putting it together is super easy and intuitive. It's lightweight and swivels nicely as well. Not overly so either like some vacuums that jacknife themselves, this one swivels and allows you to still manage control of it. It has 3 settings on the power button, OFF, No spin on the roller brush and then the roller brush spin setting. So it's easy when you need to go over tiles or hard flooring to turn off the roller brush and flick it back on when you're over carpet again. This vacuum is very powerful for how lightweight it is compared to my other bagless that its replacing. I ended up emptying it halfway through my vacuuming adventure just in case, but the container probably could've stood to be filled a bit further from the point where I emptied it. So I ended up emptying it twice with the container about 75% full of dust and fluff and fur each time. As you can see by the picture that's just from the second emptying, the first is a ball bigger than that below it. My hallway rug changed colors from dulled colors to bright and clean once this thing got to it lol. It got out dirt I didn't realize was still stuck to it! This thing handled all debris like a champ. Fur, loose litter, crumbled paper, a few stray feathers from my pillows, and the different thicknesses of the carpet, and the rugs in my kitchen and hallway. The entire time I was vacuuming I kept laughing and joking to myself that I felt like I was in a friggin TV commercial with how amazed I was at how well this thing was performing and each new feature I discovered with it. LOL. The kitchen rug pictured is a thick almost shag-like rug and the vacuum has a suction power slider that I could have probably used so it didn't have as strong of a suction on that rug as it did, even with the higher power suction it still handled that rug like a champ. It didn't snag or eat the rug at all and got it more clean than I've seen it in years. It was able to travel over and clean any surface in my apartment, linoleum, carpet, thick shag rug, even my yoga mat it breezed over with the brush without scratching it up. Needless to say, I'm super super pleased with this vacuum, holy cow. The only slight issue I had was the petmate attachment that has the little roller; when I was using it on a pillow and the couch cushions I noticed if I pressed down with it, the pressure from the pillows stopped the roller from moving as it seems to be powered by the suction power of the vacuum itself. I'm not sure if I am supposed to vacuum with it in a certain manner to avoid this issue or if it's intentional. The plus side is it means nothing can get damaged and jam it up if it gets pulled in since the roller stops with any solid pressure, I was able to stop it with my hand even without injury. I need to fiddle with that attachment a little more I think to get the hang of it. But the vacuum came with a dual brush attachment as well and one side is a red felt-like bristly brush kind of side and that worked equally as good at getting the fur off the corduroy of the pillows. The handle part of the vacuum detaches from the body to provide you with a spot to hook the attachments to, or you can detach the whole arm wand if you need further reach as well. It's super easy to clean as well as most bagless canister type vacuums are. The thing disassembles so easily with a few button presses that you can reach all the parts without having to tip the whole vacuum over to maintain it. The cannister comes away from the main body, has a flap at the bottom to empty it into the trash and then another button at the top that lets you open the top side of the cannister to pull out the center tube thing and shake off any gathered hair or dust in there as well. The center tube twists to lock into place so be careful you don't yank on it without unlocking it first. You can see the little lock diagram on the inside of it to guide you. It also has a filter at the bottom of where the cannister sits on the body of the vacuum that you can take out to clean and wash. The arm wand that detaches is a comfortable length so I'm not stooping over to reach with it. My only wish is that the main floor roller had a plate that came loose so I can pull the whole roller out for easier cleaning, but unless I unscrew the ENTIRE faceplate, which I don't want to do, I was left with snipping any coiled hair or fuzz from the roller while it was still attached. It wasn't difficult to do as I can detach the vacuum head from the body, but it would be nice to be able to take the roller out in case I want to wash it or something. All in all I am super pleased with the results this vacuum has had on my very dirty apartment, and I couldn't be happier. I definitely recommend getting this vacuum if you're hesitating, it's well worth the money.

The search continues......
After purchasing a Shark Navigator and watching the brushes tear my rugs (because, suction control is NOT height adjustment), I decided I needed a vacuum with height adjustment. I find this vacuum to be lightweight. It has manual height adjustment and good suction for a house with pet hair. The hair eliminator brush roll is a definite plus; however...... 1. It does not have a true floor setting where the brushes stop. 2. Because it doesn't have a true floor setting where the brushes stop, the manual includes a warning that you should make certain the brushes are at the highest adjustment setting while using tools, because the brushes may cause damage to your carpet. 3. The onboard tool holders are terrible. The pet brush does not stay on and the combination crevice/brush tool are a pain to get on. 4. The extention rod for use of the attachments is too short causing me to contantly stoop over. 5. The pet attachment tool is cheap and often stops rotating in the middle of the job. 6. I dislike a combined crevice/brush tool. The brush is never full enough and the plastic ends up scraping your surfaces. 7. The specs do not mention a built in edger and I don't think it has one; so, while the vacuum picks up pet hair, you will need the crevice tool every time you vacuum. I am not happy with this vacuum, but at least it is not fraying my carpets.

Your small house won’t get cleaned.
The vacuum is too small for our house. It does not have a great enough suction for under 2000 square-foot house.

Well thought out and Practical
This is the third one we have bought, now in various area's of our house. It's that good. Great suction and power, the perfect size with an extremely versatile moving head that lets you get into tight spots like the area between the toilet and the adjacent wall. Illumination light let's you see a lot more than you thought was there. Build quality is typical of today. In other words not close to purpose built name brands of the 60's. Non existent today. Cons: Vacuums that use this style of detachable hose are impracticably short. Needs an extension accessory. Still giving it 5 stars based on price and usability.

Right country, but wrong voltage!
Why can’t I give this no stars? I ordered it from Amazon.ie for a house in Donegal, Ireland. It shipped from Florida to UK, and then to Ireland. It looked great when we opened it until we looked at the stupid little two-prong plug! Oh yeah! This vacuum is 120 volt US current rated! Only way to use it would be to drag around an expensive 240-120 converter from room to room. And they don’t last long.
