Thought provoking and practical
This is an inspirational book, the climate change threat can seem daunting and depressing but this short book outlines why we need to be optimistic while doing all we can to slow down the threat caused by climate change. Well worth a read.

Inspirational
This book convinced me to be optimistic about humanity's climate challenge. Not just because there are solutions around every corner - but also because it's the ONLY rational attitude to have. Pessimism and fatalism would be self-fulfilling.

Strong on mindset to resolving the climate crisis
Compared to other recent books I've read on the Climate Crisis (Uninhabitable Earth, On Fire, Our House is on Fire), this felt more hopeful despite laying out the shocking state of the situation we're in. It was reassuring to hear from leaders on the political front-line of the crisis. But I'm not quite sure who this book is for... it feels closer to 'No Planet B' but that worked well as it was a really useful handbook for anyone trying to work out what's going on and what they can do, which this book doesn't try to be.Regardless, I hope it gets widely read because it is clear, empowering and hopeful.

Concise and hopeful
If you only are going to read one book on climate change, this would be a reasonable choice. If you are already well read on climate change (i.e. have read many other books) you won't learn too much from this, but if you are feeling despair or anger, this book can add some hope.It is not a long or comprehensive book. There is little or nothing on say methane or ice melt or IPCC reports. It is not a book to understand the science. There is more on attitude, personal things you can do and a broader picture. It is a little light on just how bad things might get if we don't act...then again, others have covered that.

Inspiring, positive book
Interesting and inspiring book on the climate crisis that instils hope, and provides practical steps on what individuals can do in the fight against climate change. There is greater focus on the psychological side of things and simple changes one can make, as opposed to serious policy solutions. However I reckon the authors’ objective was to engage everyone regardless of their knowledge on the subject, and make sure the text is understandable to the everyday person, which I thought worked really well! It’s a well balanced book on the whole and would highly recommend.

Everyone should read this
An unusual book about climate change that is based on science but also gives an excellent psychological framework to help readers deal with the challenges that lie ahead. It is difficult to imagine what climate change will actually look like and this is why I found the description of the two possible future scenarios particularly telling: one in which business as usual continues and leads to the abyss, and the other in which emissions are cut to 0 by 2050.A must read.

Inspiring and practical
This is an incredibly inspiring book.I have felt at times paralysed by the climate change crisis but reading this book has helped me to see that there are things which I can do which will help to make a difference. It also suggests practical suggestion to help addresses despair and feelings of powerlessness. Because both Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivette-Carnac played such a key role in the Paris agreement, they are able to speak from experience and with real authority, understanding how difficult change is but showing how it is possible.

Excellent antidote to climate hopelessness
<I>"When it comes to climate change, the vast majority of us have a learned reaction of helplessness. We see the direction the world is headed, and we throw up our hands. Yes, we think, it’s terrible, but it’s so complex and so big and so overwhelming. We can’t do anything to stop it. This learned reaction is not only untrue, it’s become fundamentally irresponsible. If you want to help address climate change, you have to teach yourself a different response."</I><I>”Two dates should now be seared in everyone’s mind: 2030 and 2050. By 2050 at the latest, and ideally by 2040, we must have stopped emitting more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than Earth can naturally absorb through its ecosystems (a balance known as net-zero emissions or carbon neutrality). In order to get to this scientifically established goal, our global greenhouse gas emissions must be clearly on the decline by the early 2020s and reduced by at least 50 percent by 2030.”</I>This book was SO GREAT and I can't recommend it enough, especially to those who (like me) may be inclined to feel hopeless when faced with the monumental shift our species must make to meet the challenges of the global climate crisis. Figueres and Rivett-Carnac present specific visions of the disparate futures that await our planet depending on how we respond to this crisis: one awesome; one really, really scary. I really appreciated the chapter on the importance of optimism, an essential self-care trait for climate activists. The authors go on to present concrete steps we can all take to reduce our carbon footprint and work to create the kind of world we want our children to live in. Very accessible and well structured. Inspiring. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Mind changing
Most of us know the last 100 years mean progress, yet few are similarly optimistic about the next 100. This book is an attempt to describe what a good future looks like, and how it could happen. Turning the fossil fuel page is part of it, but the best pages are about the regenerative economy, and how a collaborative system where everybody wins can emerge, and build endless abundance. Even more exciting than flying cars!
