(us/canada; 240v; 2 x 120v hot (each with a different phase) + 1 ground (no neutral)** A: The switch itself requires a white / neutral. So you would go from the breaker box to the switch with 4 wires (white/neutral, red/120v, black/120v, and ground). Then you would go red/black/ground to the water heater. **Q: Will this work with the Samsung Smartthings Hub?** A: I have this switch for my gutter heaters. Once wired in, my classic app "add a device" discovered the switch immediately. I am using a v2 Samsung hub. Also, the switch responded quickly turning on and off from my phone. **Q: Is this UL certified? Thx** A: No, z-wave devices are not yet UL listed, this is coming next year. the ZW078 is labelled as conforming to UL Std's, but is not officially labelled as "UL Certified" or "UL Listed", no zwave devices are. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hubitat-controlled Hot Water Heater *by D***B on Reviewed in the United States on 1 September 2024* Using this to control my hot water heater via Hubitat (I need to turn off the hot water heater during peak energy rates to save money). So far it's working great. FYI, for Hubitat, you'll need the custom "Aeotec Heavy Duty Smart Switch" device driver found in the Hubitat Package Manager. My only complaint is the odd knockout holes where the wires enter the device, they're not standard holes and therefore you can't use regular clamps to secure the wires (you have to use the included rubber plugs). Not a big deal, but I'd rather use standard clamps to secure the wires. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy installation, easy operation *by S***I on Reviewed in Canada on 3 July 2019* Update: switched from wink to SmartThings and this still works like a charm!I purchased this to be used with my hot water tank so that I could be able to remotely turn it on and off.
