Twist the neck piece until the handle and head are locked.Upon receiving this, I went to clear a 2-foot tall pile of packed, icy snow that was blocking my driveway. I had the tool locked firmly, but the tool couldn't hold up after heavy strikes to the packed snow too well. After a few hits, the head starts to loosen, and you need to re-tighten the neckpiece again.It worked for what I needed it for, but I doubt its ability to stand up to any heavy-duty work in the long term. For moving snow and soft dirt in the shovel configuration without heavy impact, it works well. I don't feel comfortable relying on this to dig my car out of an ice pile during blizzards, so I will keep this tool at home and buy something more durable for the car. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Found my new dutch oven tool. *by S*** on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2016* I ordered the large, which turned out perfect for what I'm going to use it for. Seems really sturdy. Screws holding it together are solid metal, as are the rest of the shovel components. I'll be using this as a tool for my dutch oven while camping. The spade was sturdy enough to pick up my 12inch cast iron dutch oven by the handle and move it. I will have to wait and see how well the shovel withstands moving hot embers from the campfire to cook with, but I don't see any issue. It's still quite small and manageable, collapsing into a small size and fitting into a well made, sturdy canvass bag, it fits nicely into my car's small trunk without taking up much room yet is there when I need it. Having used it twice already in our tough Midwestern ice and snow this year I like its versatility with a shovel to dig and move snow on one end and a pick to break ice on the other. It can be used "flat" like a conventional shove or at a 90 degree angle like a hoe.
