This is probably the best chess set I owned. Both the "board" (which is actually high quality plastic) and the pieces are the right size. You can roll up the board and take it with you on vacation or travel. The hard plastic pieces are I guess "regulation size", not sure, but they have the right balanced weight, and are easy to move and store. The extra Queen comes in handy if you are lucky to pass a pawn to the last row. The cool white-green color palette is easy on the eye. Lovely graduation gift for that smart kid in your family. NOTE: The pieces are not magnetic. So you need to play with this set on level ground or on a table. It comes with a carry-on bag. And if you wish, you can play checkers with it as well.

I am completely satisfied with this product. The chess mat is thick and heavy allowing it to lay flat on a table and it is well made with a non-skid bottom. The pieces are plastic, but they are heavy enough that they sit flat on the mat without easily turning over and they have a non-slip bottom. Considering other chess products I have purchased I think this one is perfect for home or travel. It came with a mat, chess pieces, carry case, and checker pieces making it an all around must have for chess players. This set is also tournament size which makes it great.

This chess/checkers set was worth the money. Good quality of pieces and the mat type board. I purchased this for my 10 yr old son, and he takes the set to school to play with friends for recess. The game is easy to set up and play, and then clean up and put away. He also has told me it is easy to put away in the portable bag. Also it is a good size board and chess pieces and checker pieces. Overall my son is happy with his chess/checkers set.

The whole set is complete, it's easy to assemble, very nice quality– the material is so good that the chess piece and "board" is easy to pack. It comes with a bag. The bag is made for travelling for sure because it's like a Polyester type material. The chess pieces are easy to see, as they're black and tan-ish. The looks of it, like the length and stuff are too large for a normal table, however, it's good. When it first came it, it came with a box, so it's perfect for gifting this to a chess enthusiasts.

Great chess board. Only issue I have is that the pieces are very light and feels cheap. The carrying case doesn’t feel it will last long.

They upgraded the mat material. It’s no longer a cheap cloth like material, it’s now a big mousepad! Which is the best material and most used in all forms of playmats. I love this set! Didn’t even need it but you can never have too many chess sets haha you should buy this for sure. I got mine for travel and because I didn’t wanna bring my wooden sets out of the house. Greet for a gift as well! The plastic is even upgraded from the thinner plastic material it’s now a thicker plastic material. Not just the mold is thick but the plastic liquid they used for the molding process I bet was thicker consistency as well. I’ve done a lot of work with plastics and molding so I know for sure it’s better quality than the original set. Highly recommended to anyone of all ages.

I like this set due to the materials and details. I will use this often. Plastic materials are great for playing others in public since most others do not play as carefully as you will with your set. I tried using a decent wooden folding box the pieces fit into once. The other guy must've dropped or scratched the board 5 times and finally I told him if he can't hold onto the set, get to stepping. The set was older and he was likely doing it intentionally. Good set.

For the price, this is a great chest set
