I'm a size 12 in jeans, 30 waist and I have an average butt. Do you think the size Large will fit?

I don't think so. I wear a 10 and they were laughingly small.

Any issues with the edges starting to roll?

I have noticed it rolling a little bit. I think because it's high waisted. I only wear these under my yoga pants. So I stick my hands down my pants and fix it And I know everyone says to buy large. I did. I normally wear size 8-10 pants. I bought larges and I think I could've bought mediums. But because I only wear them to yoga or spin, it's not that big a deal.

Are they thick to prevent cameltoe?

Yes. The material is 83.8 percent polyamide nylon. It is pretty stretchy but not thin enough to see through. The crotch is reinforced with cotton so no cameltoe. Definitely order 1-2 sizes larger.
