Q: how well will this work in the winter

If by how well you mean signal pick up, I've used this for just about a year now and it works fine. I tried other antenna replacements in the past and this one beats all the others; not to mention you can store the antenna away if you want to go to a car wash. This is probably the closest thing you'll get to having your factory antenna.

It fit my 1984 Ford Ranger XLT..If your vehicle has a existing hole on right side hood corner, then it should fit..It replaced my existing exterior antenna..I also put one to replace my 1988 Chevy Camaro's..Both antennas had rusted..Reception better then now.. out..
