AmLactin Intensive Healing Cream

After decades with dry skin, thick callouses and 'chicken skin' (aka hyperkeratosis pillars), I learned about this fabulous lotion in medical school. Hallelujah! Even intermittent use makes my skin so moist and soft. It has helped my hang nails, the chicken skin on my arms and thighs, the thick skin I get on elbows and feet, the dry ragged skin around my nails, and the dry flakey skin on my shins. I even use it on my face at night and it gives this 66yo the skin of a baby when I wake! This powerful lactic acid cream makes excess keratin melt away. I strongly recommend it to my patients, my family and my friends who have any such problems. A few characteristics to be aware of: 1) It smells 'tangy' when applying but that dissipates. 2) I don't use it on my body at bedtime because then I stick to the sheets (except on my face) 3) If you have any breaks in the skin it will sting when applying. That dissipates too. This product is so worth the money. I find I use about one tub per month.

★★★★★ Living in Arizona, dry skin can become a year-round battle rather than just a seasonal issue. Between the heat, dry air, and constantly being active, I’ve tried plenty of products that promised relief but mostly delivered temporary results. What stood out with this product was that it felt different from a standard lotion. It seemed to do more than simply sit on the surface of the skin. After using it consistently, I noticed my skin felt smoother, more hydrated, and much less rough over time. I also appreciated that it seemed to help without requiring constant exfoliating or additional steps. The texture took a little getting used to at first, but the results made that adjustment easy. Sometimes products aimed at very dry skin either feel overly greasy or too light to actually help, and this found a good middle ground. Five stars. Effective, long-lasting, and one of the better products I’ve used for extremely dry skin.

My dermatologist recommended this product due to very dry skin patches that I have. It does keep my shoulders, arms and legs more moisturized better than other lotions I have used. I use it in this form, plus the pump bottle. This 15% version is thicker and doesn't spread out as thinly as the lotion in the pump bottle. The only odd thing is that this has a beef bouillon odor which the pump bottle lotion version doesn't have. It doesn't stink on my skin, although I guess smelling like beef isn't totally bad as I imagine I would be attractive to dogs. I like dogs. I will continue to use both the lotion and this cream as some areas just need a light coating and other areas need this thicker application. I will reorder this again when needed. I'm 73 and live in western Oregon (definitely not a dry area for 6 months) so my dry skin is probably more age related rather than environmental. I'm updating my review after using it a while. It does smell on my skin. The smell is really getting to me. It lingers for approx. a half day and starts to make me nauseous after an hour or so. I still like how it works, but I've switched to using the lotion in the pump bottle which doesn't have any scent, but it's a 12% solution rather than a 15% mix. I'm going to try to cover the scent (of the UNscented product!) with an essential oil as another reviewer has done. I ordered a tropical oil pack from Amazon and added less than 50 drops of pineapple and the same of coconut. I didn't add enough that it smells of coconut-pineapple, but it now has a fresh scent. Much better! I have this cream on a subscription order and can now fix that bouillion odor.

Love this lotion. It's helped my skin in a lot of ways I didn't know I needed it! Bought it for ingrown hairs on my legs that randomly started happening the last few years. My legs were getting wrecked because of the ingrown hair cycle, picking them, scarring and subsequent even more difficult ingrown hairs. This lotion has helped reduce the ingrowns tremendously. The lotion feels a little like I just got out of saltwater, and I don't love that, but the benefits are worth it. And to get around that feeling I use this lotion in a light coat then I'll moisturize with one of my favorite scented lotions over top. Works perfectly! My skin everywhere is so much softer, more hydrated, the tone and texture is more even. I really wish I would have found this sooner. If anyone has an issue with lactic acid there's also other lotions with urea and that works really well too.

I have had severely dry skin all of my life but this cream is fantastic. I get it now on auto ship. It's not greasy and makes my skin baby soft. It's worth every penny. So glad I can finally quit wasting money on products that promise to work and then don't. I'm an actual customer and not paid for this review.

This has been my go-to for many years, ever since it was recommended to me by my dermatologist. Helps dry, scaling/cracking skin better than anything else I've tried. Not the best smell, but that's not what it's for. It might seem on the pricy side, but it's worth every penny.

This is a truly amazing lotion for rough skin, think feet (especially heels), elbows and knees. After one use at night, I woke up to a noticeable difference in feel, texture and looks. Maravilla de crema! La compre para mejorar mi queratosis. No le tenía mucha fe porque utilice por AÑOS la de Cera Ve y jamás vi resultados. Con esta crema vi muchísimo avance, tengo la piel más lisa y suave. Vi resultados claros hasta el segundo frasco (sí, es un proceso LENTO) pero no me importa, mientras haya mejora. Ya voy por mi tercer bote y no creo cambiarla. Soy de tez morena, piel sensible pero grasa. La crema se siente mucho más ligera que la de CERAVE y a mí me dura como 1 mes aplicando una vez al día a diario.

Picked it up 1 day ago and immediately used it and again today and the flaky ashy scaly skin on my legs is gone .. like gone, legs are smooth and its only the start .. can’t wait to see what my legs are like after a few weeks of using this cream. Slight smell but goes away after drying, no irritation so far
