Is this truly safe on hardwood floors? Has anybody tried to remove it from a hardwood floor?

We have prefinished oak hardwood floors. I used this tape in attempt to attach an extension cord protector to our floor, but it was too thick to keep the protector in place without making the protector itself a tripping hazard. So to answer your question, I was able to peel the tape from our floor without damage or any tape residue. However, I can't attest to whether this applies once the tape has been in place for an extended time.

Sounds like it sticks well to floor surfaces, my question is how well does it stick to the underside of area rug?

I haven’t had any issues with it sticking to the bottom of my rugs but I also feel like it may depend on the material on the bottom of your rug. For example, one of the rugs I use the tape on is in my dinning room and the bottom is very flat whereas my living room rug has a very textured bottom. I don’t use the tape in my living room because my couch holds the rug in place. I feel like it would stick to the living room rug but it may come up easily because it isn’t a flat surface.

Will this tape work on shoe bottoms

Not sure what you mean- if you put it on the bottom of your shoes, you’ll be stuck to the floor- if you want to use it to hold your shoes together, instead of going to a shoe maker, it might last a while- but I have no idea for how long…
