This allows the bottom of the shower to dry between uses as well as the mat to dry out. I have not had any mold issues doing this over the past year. The shower is in a separate room off my main bathroom so there is not much air flow. Sticking the mat to the wall is a great space saver and leaves the shower rod free for washcloths. It is easy to just pull the mat off and put in bottom of shower when I need to use it again.
