not the best for short legs** Edit/Update
I am 5 foot three with a long torso and short legs. This still comes up too high on my abdomen when I have it at the lowest position. I will need to put something under my feet to allow the pads to hit me at my hips rather than my lower abs to properly do the exercise. It’s not the greatest machine but I think it will do just fine for a home gym, provided I find some way to make me two or 3 inches taller (for my feet position). I do not agree that a 4 foot 9inch person could benefit from this machine as Stamina has advertised. My unit was missing a grip pad on the handles. Assembly was easy** I lowered the height adjustment bar (where the pads are located) all the way to the bottom And this helped. But that means the adjustment knob does not go through the adjustment hole in the adjustment pole. when you tighten it up it just hits the metal bar and does not go into the adjustment hole as it’s gone all the way to the bottom. this will make more sense if you are assembling the unit. That being said, tightening the knob does keep it stable. I guess if someone is 4 foot nine they would just have to try it out and see if it works. And be sure to wear shoes while you use this machine as this will increase your stability and give you a little bit more height for the pad. sorry for the long review but hopefully it will help someone else!

worth it
I was apprehensive when it was delivered, because the box was lightweight. 15 pounds? How could this be sturdy?Upon putting it together, it works great. Does what it has to do. Folds up for minimal space in my small apartment. I'm 180 pounds and 6 foot tall. it was not too small and it is sturdy enough. I can safely hold a 50 pound weight to add resistance - Carefully of course.* Hyper extensions are not just for your lower back. Even better, use them for your glutes/hips.

Very sturdy and stable
I was going to get one of the cheaper $72 models, 6 months earlier. But they had a stock out, during peak of pandemic. When I went back to order one, I noticed this one was $20 more, but looked more substantial. And reviews were better. So I ordered it. Arrived fairly soon. Assembly was a bit detailed, even for a former bench mechanic like me. But the instructions were fairly clear, and very specific, in sequence, with good illustrations. Not only is it very stable and sturdy, it also has some space between the two hip/thigh pads. That is a big plus, for an adult male. The cushions are thick and firm but flexible. The parts all fit together with excellent tolerances. On other assembly-required equipment in past, I often encounter inscrutible instructions or impossible diagrams, or missing parts. But this one was perfect. Five stars. And it helps my back a lot. I don't have back problems but this will help prevent them from developing. Most guys my age do have or develop back problems. I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs. This equipment is a fine fit for me. Estimate it would work for a person down to about 5'0" and up to about 6' 0". Might work beyond that, but I wouldn't know.

Stable Bench - Good purchase
This bench is pretty stable. I am 5'11" and 187 lbs. I purchased it for the sole purpose of strengthening my lower back to see if I can remediate some minor discomfort I have been having as I got older. The bench came in a well padded medium sized box. Instructions were pretty clear and comes with 2 wrenches and all the bolts to assemble it properly. Fairly easy to put together and once adjusted to fit your body size, it provides solid support for back exercises. I am sure this can accommodate a person that is over 6' feet tall without any issues. I have not tried any other hyperextension bench, but if you only want to strengthen your lower back muscles, this is a good bench. I keep my bench in the garage and plan to use it regularly so I cannot speak as to how easy it is to put together.

Not bad...one alert: Tipping
This is not bad for an inexpensive hyperextension "bench". Assembly was easy and took maybe 30 minutes with a socket wrench and adjustable wrench. This is not as solid as other hyperextension benches I've used but it's okay for home use. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 185 pounds and while using it, I noticed the back end lifting a bit when using this so you really need to have your feet planted on the bottom stability bar. This concerns me if I'm holding a kettlebell or plate of substantial weight while doing extensions...is this thing going to tip forward? I wouldn't recommend going crazy on this with any weight: Definitely be careful.

Exactly what I wanted
It arrived today and it took about 1/2 to unbox and assemble. All the parts were there, and it included two wrenches needed to tighten the bolts and nuts. The assembly instructions were reasonably good and how it goes together is rather intuitive. I wanted this bench because my lower back needs work and I already have a "regular" weight bench for my other needs. This makes a good one-trick-pony that is not too expensive. It is light, reasonably compact, and easy to move. I am 5'9" with a 32" inseam and the bench needs the lowest/shortest setting. If you have short legs this bench may prove a challenge. (The 2 locking knobs my still prove adequate even though the main one does not slide into a provided hole... but I did not need to try that. Or you could add another hole with a drill and metal bit.)

My L5S1 Herniated Disc pain is alleviated
I hurt my back at work months ago and after MRI, found out I have a small Disc Protrusion at L5S1 level. My sciatic pain took a month to completely go away and when assisting Patients for transfers my low back pain gets triggered. After using this back extension bench, pain for both sciatica on the right leg and low back pain have gotten a lot less and became tolerable and now pretty much pain free. As a licensed PTA working in a Skilled Nursing setting, this bench is a life saver. Im a minimalist in my training I only a workout2x per week. Saturdays and one weekday. I use this back extension in conjunction with my flat barbell bench press and Pull ups. I am strong at my job and plan to keep it that way.
