Update 2.11.24... worth the 5 stars. This is a great iron. Used it on several items today and I love it. It made my pillowcases look fabulous, so I ironed the sheets too! Got out all wrinkles. Love the shot of steam in addition to the cotton/steam setting. Irons beautifully. I appreciate that this doesn't drip water everywhere. It shuts itself off if left sitting on its heel for a few minutes, but heats right back up quickly. That's a must when I'm sewing things and need to press seams. I can honestly say I enjoy ironing again and when done, the retractable cord is a huge plus. I am using distilled water in my iron, too much calcium in the tap water here, and that will ruin the iron quickly. If you're on the fence with this iron, I recommend it and say get it. You won't be disappointed (and If you are, you can return it). Original review: I had a Shark steam iron but I hated that thing with a passion since day one. I finally gave in and bought this Sunbeam...trusted brand, been around for eons, so why not. It was received with a few very small areas on one side of the sole plate that look like tiny scratches, but they're not rough, not raised, don't catch on anything, etc. so I think it's just something in the metal. So far I've used this once, as a test run. I bought a new ironing board cover at the same time, (which arrived with more wrinkles than a Shar Pei!) so I installed the cover and then ironed it. The iron worked well on that. I also ironed interfacing to a piece of fabric. The sole plate did pick up some of the interfacing residue, but it wiped off really easily with a damp microfibre cloth after the iron had cooled off. Love the retractable cord. Makes storting the iron easier. Instructions say to use tap water, but not sure that's such a good idea with all the junk and calcium in the water here, so I'll be using distilled water in mine. Giving this 5 stars for now.

I bought this iron to replace my 20 year-old Sunbeam. And I love it even more than my old one. The powerful steam makes ironing cotton buttondowns a breeze. And the retractable cord is a great feature that allows for convenient storage. I have not experienced any leakage, as some reviews mentioned. All in all, good iron

I decided to go with this Sunbeam primarily because it’s the brand my mother always swore by, and I wanted to follow in her footsteps for my own household tools. Right out of the box, the appearance is lovely—the turquoise color is vibrant and looks great sitting in my utility area. I primarily purchased this to handle some hemming adjustments on several dresses and pants that are just a bit too long, so I didn't need the most expensive model with every bell and whistle. This iron feels like a solid, durable middle ground for those of us who need a reliable tool for occasional garment care and DIY projects. The power is impressive for the price point, and I found the buttons very easy to navigate. The large, non-stick soleplate is a major plus, providing plenty of surface area for efficient wrinkle-removal, while the auto shut-off feature provides great peace of mind for safety. I also discovered a helpful safety feature regarding the retractable cord: you actually have to hold the button down in order to pull the cord out to its full five-foot reach. My only minor critique is that the retraction isn't always one smooth shot; you have to manually guide the cord slightly so it doesn’t bunch up in one spot inside the housing. Aside from that small mechanical quirk, it’s a well-engineered iron that handles the basics perfectly.

PROS: I love the color of this. The green and chrome make kind of a sexy combo. This iron is easy to use, especially the temperature (you just choose the type of fabric, including synthetic) and steam controls (four steam settings, including no steam). I like that you can turn off both heat and steam without unplugging. Useful for when you’re switching between garments of varying fabric and might want to cool the iron first, or are briefly away from the iron. You can also control how much steam you want during use. Of course, the shot of steam feature means you can operate it as a steamer as well (upright on the hanger). The water tank is see-through so you can observe how much water there is. It takes almost no time to heat up and is just heavy enough that you don’t have to do much pressing. I would not describe it as lightweight but I imagine it would feel light if the tank were empty (which, of course, will disable steam). After a burn, the chrome plate is easy to clean. I burned a garment this morning (from using too high a temperature for the fabric) and was left with the burn pacth on the iron face. All I had to do was wipe with a wet soapy cloth while the iron was still warm (but unplugged of course), and voila! Just like new. Auto shut-off is definitely a safety plus AND it is truly leak-proof! CONS: I don’t like that an automatic shot of steam is emitted when you stand the iron upright during use. Seems like a waste to have the steam come out once you stop ironing. Not sure what this function is supposed to do. However, it continues to steam while you iron as well, so it’s not a deal breaker. All in all, this is an excellent purchase for the price. You will not be disappointed.

I purchased this six years ago, thanks Amazon for the reminder. I am looking for another because there is a short in the cord and it died ;-( Otherwise it would stiill be working!!!

Es una plancha excelente, un poquito pesada pero se desliza maravillosamente bien me ha reconciliado con el planchado su vapor es bueno y el golpe de vapor quita hasta las arrugas más difíciles. Llevo usándola dos semanas espero que me dure mucho.

Works like a charm, love the nice long retractable cord, and it's beautiful besides. I was somewhat reluctant to spend the $$ when there were others that were cheaper, but the large capacity water reservoir sold me, and this is def worth the money.

My husband loves this iron so much. It's light and very functionable.

J'avais un vieux fer à repasser qui datait pratiquement de la guerre. Je voulais un fer qui chauffe rapidement, facile d'entretien et qui ne coute pas les yeux de la tête. Ce fer est excellent, les ajustement de vapeur et de températures sont facile à comprendre et les jets de vapeurs sont puissant. Il fait très bien le travail pour enlever les plis des tissus. J'aime bien aussi la rallonge électrique qui entre dans l'appareil. C'est très pratique pour le rangement!
