Heavier than rated, but very versatile!
Amazing! I needed a few travel rods for a trip to La Paz. I had ordered and returned several I didnโt like, but these passed my initial , at home review. On the trip, our first day the target was big roosters! Well, I got to say, these rods caught rooster fish to 80 pounds, and I felt they would do more. We also used them on 10 pound fish and they were sensitive enough. You canโt go wrong with these. They are inexpensive enough that you can lose or break them without a big loss, and versatile to cover most fishing needs I do feel they are better suited to 30 pounds and up. I think the rods rating is a bit low.

Good price.
It can be used in fresh and salt water, That's a plus. It is very stiff, meaning it can hold a good sized fish.

Guide eyes
The 15-30 size has been using it for a bit, for a year now and it's capable of hooking up some pretty good sized Bonita, Bonito and a hefty Yellowtail that got away. Sadly today's the day where the guide eyes have popped out and i lost them. I tried seeing if there's exact replacement parts but there isn't. The guides themselves are well secured but since there's no replacement parts around. I'm gonna have to set it off to the side until I can have more space and time to upgrade the guides themselves. Unless the company would like to sell parts themselves, get in touch to send the parts I need or I send the rod to them for fixing. That would be much appreciated. Especially because I don't want to turn it in for a new one. Caught a lot of new fish I never thought I'd catch in my life so I want it to pretty much be used and abused until it breaks critically. Hopefully this gets the attention of the company. Tight lines ๐ค

Did exactly what I wanted it to
Purchased the Blue MH 15-30lb rod. It is described as a 'spinning' rod. I'd challenge that because the first guide is too small in diameter for my liking. So I wouldn't pair it with a 4000 or higher spinning reel. However, my needs were: 1. Easy to travel with 2. Versatility to use as a boat rod for either bottom fishing or bait casting 3. Capable of landing fish to 40 pounds. It excelled at all three. Its four pieces allowed me to fit it into checked luggage. I paired it with a Penn International 975 conventional reel. I practiced casting with it in the backyard using a 1 ounce sinker. I could easily get 40-50 yds distance. So, yes you can cast with this rod. If you needed to put a spinning reel on it, you could - but it's best paired with a smooth casting conventional reel (look at the photo and see how small the first guide is). I caught and landed a 41" Barracuda and a nurse shark that was 85-100 pounds. I expected the rod to fail with that shark but it got the job done. Being four pieces, it isn't going to have a perfect arc like an Ugly Stick or high end St. Croix, but for my purposes listed above it was absolutely perfect. Also it's a good looking rod if that matters to you. The photo is of the battle with the shark. At this moment there is 100 yds of line peeled off the reel and the fish is on the bottom, going the other way.

So far so good
So far, I have only caught a few small catfish using this rod(2-5 lbs). I am amazed at the quality of this rod! I purchased the medium heavy, and it seems more like a heavy rod. This rod is built like a tank and I am sure it will handle anything that comes itโs way. It is an excellent quality rod, the design is beautiful, and the reel seat is one of the best I have ever seen on a spinning rod. Itโs ability to break down into four travel-friendly sized pieces is also wonderful! My only complaint is that the first guide is quite small, however it is also far enough away from the reel that I do not think it will be much of an issue. At the moment I have paired it with a Penn battle II 4000 reel, and I plan to try a Penn battle III 6000 on it as well as a Penn slammer III 5500 to see which reel goes best with it.
