Review: 15 Adorable Toys to Crochet - I received my pre-ordered Magical Amigurumi Toys book in the mail today. The book is filled with adorable amigurumi toys to crochet. I only saw the two teddy bears on the front cover when I ordered the book, and had no idea what the other designs were. I knew I had to make the bear patterns for my niece (and who am I kidding for myself as well since I love bears!) Much to my surprise, I love all of the toys in the book. The crochet instructions are very clear and every stitch used is shown with pictures in Chapter 1. It makes it very easy to understand the stitches and see an up close picture to know if you are doing it right. Every project has color pictures. The 15 crochet toy projects in the book are: Teeny-tiny bear, ballerina mouse, pacifier rattle, frilly pants and long-ear rabbit, tummy teddy, silky spring mouse, Leila the pony, superstar microphone, Sofia doll, Rudy doll, bug rattle, Streaky cat, Cuddly baby, Striped sock puppy, and monkey girl. I looked through all the project instructions. All the toys appear to start with a magic ring. I rarely use magic rings and have not crocheted amigurumi toys; however, I started the cover bears head and body (much like making a hat on a small scale for me and sewing appliques on a hat) and didn’t mind it since it will give a seamless look. Instructions were very easy to follow. I would like to note: if you are not comfortable working with a magic ring/continuous rows and using a stitch marker to keep track, you may what to think about it. My opinion is that you would need to be more than a beginner at crochet and having made previous amigurumi toys would be helpful. The stitches used are in U.S. stitches. Detailed instructions and pictures are given in the first section for the following stitches and techniques which were very helpful: slip knot, yarn over hook, chain stitch (ch), slip stitch (slst), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), treble crochet (tr), back post single crochet (bpsc), half double crochet two together (hdc2tog), crocheting into front, back, or both loops, attaching the yarn into leftover front loops, attaching the yarn into leftover front loops, starting a circular piece, crocheting in a spiral, increasing and decreasing practicing increasing and decreasing, changing color, crocheting pieces together, finishing a piece, closing the hole at the end of a piece, attaching safety eyes, sewing pieces together, and helpful hints on sewing and stuffing the toys. And has skill levels of easy, medium or advanced listed for each toy. Sorry this is so long; however, I would want to see all this info if I was deciding on the book. The designer Mari-Liis Lille (or Lilleliis) did a great job designing these toys. The animals are very precious. I have only tried the cover bear so far which was easy. The book does list that she had more than one tester make her designs so that was good to know. My plan is to make a bunch to sit on the bed (for my niece of course!) ;-). May take me a while, but I will definitely have fun doing it. I did a search on the designer to see what else she has designed, and found a YouTube video on this book by the publisher Meteoor Books. There is no talking; but they flip through most of the pages in this book which will give an idea of the other designs. Do a search on the book name on YouTube, and you'll find it. Review: Delightful Crochet Amigurumi Book - Love this Book! Very clearly written with detailed instructions on all the stitches you will need to complete one of these gorgeous projects. Good for beginners and intermediate alike. Cant wait to buy another in the series.

Magical and adorable
As the previous reviewer said, I also pre-ordered this and was thrilled. Photos are clear, toys are absolutely adorable. I have already made the caterpillar rattle and found the directions to be clear and accurate. I don't use the magic ring method to start my projects (and I have made more amigurumi toys than I can count). I just chain 2 and work the first 6 - or whatever - in the 2nd chain. no problem. A little tug on the threads on the inside of the project smooth out any beginning bumps. I have more than 25 toy pattern books and this book is definitely a keeper!

A Winner
This one is a complete winner in every way. (The surprise for me was the Waldorf-inspired doll!) Lots of cotton worsted weight used for the majority of the designs, so the toys will be very durable, non-pilling, and washable, not to mention safe and natural fibers for a baby or young child. The collection is full of variety, as well. A "superstar" microphone; variety of striped, colorful toys; soother/pacifier, animals with varying expressions, very successful and creative use of fabric details, cutest dolls I've yet seen. These designs were originally created for her own children, and a lot of effort and attention to detail went into this lovable collection. The author clearly is passionate about her work!

Adorable & Easy
This is a sweet little book. Easy to follow patterns. I have only been crocheting for about 4 months now & didn't have any problems following the pattern. I have found Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek yarn with a size G crochet hook to work well for these patterns & other amigurmi patterns.

Ein Buch voller süßer Anleitungen .
Ich kann dieses Buch nur empfehlen. Wunderschöne Anleitungen . Man weiß nicht was man zuerst nehmen soll. Sehr gut erklärt aber das ist bei englischen Anleitungen immer so. Auch wer nur ein bißchen Englisch spricht kommt damit zurecht.
