Elmo is our favorite!
The Elmo electronic toothbrush from Sesame Street has been a total game-changer for our kids' nighttime teeth brushing routine! Not only does it make brushing fun, but it also helps them learn how to brush properly. The toothbrush sings songs, makes funny Elmo phrases, and guides them through the brushing process. It even gives them stars at the end to show how well they brushed. Since we started using the Elmo toothbrush, our kids have been more excited about brushing their teeth, and they've become more independent in their brushing habits. Plus, it's a great way to introduce them to good oral hygiene habits from a young age. Overall, we are thrilled with the Elmo electronic toothbrush and would highly recommend it to any parent looking to make teeth brushing more fun and engaging for their kids!

Best toothbrush for kids learning to brush
This brush helped my kids actually learn how to brush their own teeth properly. No other toothbrush Iโve found actually does this. Iโve bought a few of these now.

Corroded Battery
I ordered two of these, one for each of my kids. They arrived today. I got one to work just fine. The other worked for a second then stopped all of a sudden. I opened up the battery case to see what was going on to find a battery that CAME with the product was corroded. While an easy fix, I was disappointed to see that they had a battery in it that had corroded. Otherwise my kids love it and are excited to use it!

Great for reluctant tooth brushers!
Our Sesame Street/elmo fan is motivated by all things Elmo. Due to sensory issues, teeth brushing can be a challenge. Seeing Elmo sparked curiosity and allowed us to approach this task without fear. We took our time and now she initiates toothbrushing which is huge. The brush had Sesame Street sings and some games that motivate her to keep brushing to warm coins and โrewardsโ, it makes sounds to encourage her and then a song reward at the end with lots of praise by the brush. If you struggle with tooth brushing at your house, this could really turn things around.

Amazing but frustrating technology
We have had this toothbrush for just over two years, and I have very mixed feelings. This toothbrush is just amazing enough to make me frustrated by its problems. My kid was three when we got it, and loved the songs and lights, and Elmo! It gives great verbal guidance: "Brush up and down" "Brush in small circles" "Don't forget the insides" "Don't forget the back teeth" "Go ahead and spit, we'll wait!" (It does not, it immediately returns to brushing prompts) It prompts the child to change sides every 30 seconds or so, and gives a "Side change bonus" when it senses the toothbrush flipping over. It senses the toothbrush moving up and down, and rewards that. But here is where the problem begins. It Only senses small up and down movements! My child ends up only brushing their front teeth to earn the most points and keep the music or sound effects going. If they try to brush their molars or the inside surface, the motion is different, and the toothbrush stops making sounds, tells them to "Brush up and down!" and then shuts off, thinking they are no longer brushing. It is frustrating for the child, and frustrating for me. Even with the frustration, and periods of not using it because what is the point, it is still their favorite toothbrush most of the time. We recently replaced the batteries and my now almost six year old is loving it again, and consistently earning 8-10 points, as they have learned to give what the programming wants. I then have to come in and doo the 2/3 that havent been touched. Pros: โThe price for this technology is great โIt has sensors to know if the child is actively brushing โThe music and games motivate my child to brush โThe bright colours and light on the base encourage my child to choose this brush. โIt teaches fairly good technique for one surface anyway. โThe battery life has been excellent โElmo is beloved โThere is a great catchy song (beware you might walk around the house all day on weekends, singing it with your coparent!) โThere is a fun practice mode, with heaps of sound effects โThere are multiple games Cons: โThe motion sensors only sense small up and down movements โIt discourages brushing molars or inside surfaces โSensor can cause frustration when the child is deemed to not be brushing, and are actively doing so โIt seems to detect the difference between a child brushing and an adult assisting, and shuts off โThere is a very catchy song- which will live rent-free in your head for years โReplacement heads can be difficult to find โBatteries are tricky to access Overall, this toothbrush has helped our neurodivergent child stop fighting tooth and nails when it is time to brush. The technology is so great that I find myself wanting an upgrade that will improve upon it, and sense other motions.

Kid needs to be Hercules to activate music
You need to be brushing to activate the music, but it took shaking the absolute h*ll out of it to get it to activate. Normal brushing didn't even come close to being able to activate it. You basically need to be going through an earthquake for it to actually sing the song. Immediately returned.
