Spider-Man and Philosophy: The Web of Inquiry (The Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series)

Can’t wait to see what happens in the next, but that this guy writes anyway everybody have a nice day. Enjoy your time and good luck.

This was my first little dip into philosophy and I really enjoyed it however I do plan on rereading after I get more familiar with philosophy to gain a better understanding. Overalls live it and the questions asked were questions I really enjoyed reading about!

I picked up this book because I'm a big fan of #spiderman and was curious what the philosophical take was on his character. This book is comprised of multiple essays from different authors that touch on various aspects and questions of Spidey's character and how philosophy answers, or at least approaches, those questions. FYI: the book was published in 2012, so it pulls information from the comics up until that point and only from the first live-action movies. 🕷This book was a lot of fun to read and I firmly believe that I would've remembered a lot more from my college philosophy class if it had applied theories/views to fictional characters. 🤣 Each essay tackles an aspect of Spider-man such as his relationships, his powers, his responsibilities, Uncle Ben's death, and Spidey's jokes. These essays are very thought provoking and bring out a deeper level to the wall-crawler's personality and actions than I had previously thought. 🕷I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Spider-man.🕷

For adults who want to move from the fun, adventure, and action of Spiderman into the esoteric philosophical Motivations, Reasonings & Deeper Meanings Behind the story! FASCINATING READ!★ I was surprised at the depth of research in supporting the many different perspectives along with cited evidence provided from decades old Spiderman issues & historical archives--the index is 13 pages alone! There are 6 Sections in the book: 1. The Spectacular Life of Spiderman? 2. Responsibility Man 3. Spider-sense & the Self 4. Arachnids "R" Us- Technology And The Human, All Too Human 5. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman 6. The Amazing Speaking Spider: Jokes, Stories, & the Choices We MakeEach Section has THREE chapters written by a different, highly-esteemed Philosophy professor from a top university =18 contributors in all!It would be easy to say "this should be required reading" for any Spiderman fan who wants more insight into everyone's favorite web slinger.★Not a kids book BUT...I can tell you it makes for fantastic discussions & intellectual arguments! :)

I'm giving this book at 3 just because its not authorized by Marvel nor was it written by anybody at marvel but it is a pretty good book not that good but OK

I love these "and philosophy" books. Seeing them work with Spider-man makes me extremely happy. I loved this book from start to finish. Another great read.

great read for the spidey fan

Wonderful and insightful!!

With the lastest instalment of the spideman movies, it is timely to relook at some of the fundamental questions confronting Parker.
