Against the wall the holder is 2 5/16 wide x 3 5/16 high. But be aware that the holder angles outward from the wall. The widest point is 3 1/8. Hope that's clear.

Will it work in the shower?

I haven't tried it in the shower but use them in my laundry room they do sell Command strips that are made for the bath tub that are waterproof that you can use in it and it should stay.
