All babies should have these!
I have purchased these ‘smart baby blocks’ as we call them for every baby born to my friends and family! They are great for tummy-time motivation for baby to lift their head and look at, they provide a great safe option for older siblings to play with and around little babies, they can be thrown and mouthed without concern. They are colorful, durable and fun! Our set has lasted through multiple kiddos, is now six years old and still as wonderful as when they were new! Our favorite is to pair them with Melisa and Doug soft vehicles to make them a little more versatile and have more staying power with the older siblings while baby is having floor time!

Multi-stage toy: captivating images for newborn and fun soft blocks for 3months +
Pros:I looked into pretty much every early development toy on the market and this one was one of the top 10 on my list because it had both the black and white patterns and the bright colored blocks. I introduced the black and white blocks to my baby when she was 3 weeks (not earlier because baby's ability to process images not great and it's more important for them to learn your face and smell etc.) and she loved looking at them. She lay in her crib for almost 30 minutes at a time just starting at the blocks. By four weeks, she started trying to grab them and was fascinated by their movements. At 2 months, I introduced the colored blocks and she loved holding and chewing on them, exploring the different textures on the blocks. 3 months, started enjoying the doors on the colored blocks and tries to figure them out. I'm not sure she understands what they are or is interested in the image behind them, but she enjoy pulling the on the flaps. 5-6 months, she is stacking blocks and knocking them over. So far she hasn't lost interest in them and I don't think she will for a while. I'm very happy with these, so why only 4 stars?Cons:1. Blocks made out of foam inside...3 months of use by active baby = significant deformation in shape2. hard for you baby to grab with tiny fingers. Not that much of a problem for triangular blocks but square blocks are difficult. Other blocks on the market have raised edges to help with that but this set doesn't.3. Cost more than other soft blocks (though I thought it was worth it for the qty and the black and white ones being included)Overall, I'm satisfied by the use we got of these and plan to have them around for a while longer!

My 9-month old LOVES these blocks
I paid full retail for these blocks & still feel it was money well spent. My baby girl was only mildly interested at first (6 or 7 months old) but like with all toys, I don't give up right away. I've noticed that a lot of toys just need to be introduced at the right time. (And keep in mind that all kids are different, so yours may like these sooner or later than mine did....or not at all.). My husband and I will start stacking these blocks and she can't wait to crawl across the play area to them to knock them down! Sometimes one of us has to hold her back to give the other one a chance to build something! She also likes the blocks individually (but more so when we stack them). Every block has different colors on each side, a peek-a-boo window or door on one side, a "neighborhood" scene on another, corduroy texture on another side, and one of three "sound features" (it either crinkles to the touch, rattles when you shake, or jingles when you shake). I appreciate that the "neighborhood scenes" and pictures include a nice variety of people...different ages, races, and occupation. I want my child growing up with an open mind.I think the texture and firmness of these blocks are just perfect... They are soft enough so I don't worry about her getting hurt if she falls on them when knocking them down, but they're firm enough to keep their shape for stacking, even after she sits on them and tramples them.I love these blocks so much, I came back to Amazon to buy a second set. Very excited to find a seller that has them for 50% off the full retail!

great for 4 month old and up
We got these for my 4 (almost 5) month old to give him an activity that he can practice sitting up with (with my assistance). He LOVES these. At first, I just let him mouth on them and let them make noises (some crinkle, some have a bell, and some rattle). Then we played peekaboo with the characters on the block (each block has doors or windows to open and discover a person - there is also a clear window like you'd find on a boat that my son loves!). Over the past few days, I have been sitting him in my lap while I stack the blocks on top of each other so he can knock them down. He thinks it is hysterical and cannot stop laughing. It is seriously the cutest thing ever.I wish I had known about these earlier - I might have introduced the high contrast (black and white) toys to him before he could see colors as well. Now they just act as roofs (still fun, but not really as educational). I would HIGHLY recommend these to friends and may even get them as gifts for some of my baby friends! I love that these are fun AND are teaching him about cause and effect with the sounds AND are developing his understanding of object permanence! GREAT toy.

Great set for young babies!
The baby loves these blocks. They are very appealing and the doors are a delight for the baby to open. Baby always smiles playing peek a boo with the doors and I always smile at the cube with the paranoid looking grandma peeking out the window. (Neighborhood watch introduced early?) The carrying case is great if you want to pack them away tidily or carry them somewhere and overall look cute for a gift. Deducted one star because the non printed fabrics are fairly identical on all cubes so colors and textures are repeated a lot. More variety would have been preferable for greater educational value. I bought two other soft fabric block sets to get enough cubes to build things and to increase the variety.
