For men who spend all day on their feet, the 626v2 delivers a hard-working industrial sneaker hidden inside a sporty profile. This tough work shoe features a supportive leather upper to provide a secure fit, ABZORB crash-pad technology to aid in absorbing forceul impacts, an internal shank for stability, and an ASTM 2913-11 slip-resistant lug outsole for superior traction on hazardous surfaces. Review: Great for concrete floors - These are definitely slip resistant. They are very comfortable and good for walking on concrete floors all day. They are also well made, I had no problems with mine and I'm on my second pair. Review: Fitting well and comfortable. - It's pretty hard to find shoes for a guy who wears size 16! Almost everything has to be done online, because things are just not available at stores. You can find some dress shoes at DXL, but they are SO expensive. These are nice crossover / training shoes that are good for walking, etcetera. My son will be getting a job soon, and he will probably have to wear shoes like this , so we got them in Black because that's what most employers require. HOWEVER, these shoes, unlike the New Balance shoes that I have always gotten in the past, do not have good Arch support, so it's off to dr. Scholl's Magic Machine to find some good insoles! I was really pretty disappointed about that!! These are not cheap shoes, but did not have arch support is a pretty big deal. That will make you pronate your foot in and give you a large bunion, as well as give you back pain. Not good.

A great good work shoe despite its troubles.
I'll start by saying that I don't know of a better work shoe in it's price range. Every shoe out there is going to have things going for it and things it could do better. It's important to know what you're buying before you purchase thos shoe. I read the reviews on this and other shoes before deciding to buy this one. That being said I already expected some of the cons others wrote before my purchase and can affirm a lot of what has already been said by many others while offering the pros as well. This shoe is a work shoe. It is classified as a cross trainer but has a lot of deviations from that label. It is hard to break in, doesn't breathe well at all, and it isn't lightweight as others have already stated. There are many reviews pointing to it being rough on the toes and I can see why. I ordered this shoe in a extra wide to compensate for the tightness on the toes but still have the sides digging into my big and pinky toes after an 8 hour day even though the shoe itself has plenty of room on me. While this seems to fade gradually as I break them in more and more, some other buyers have struggled with this. The shoes fit is not otherwise uncomfortable as the cushioning and sole provides a great deal of shock absorption for my entire foot, knees other joints. It does however, tend to roll in rather than out on my foot but I think part of that is just the way my feet are shaped. These shoes have excellent water resistance in my opinion, but on the other hand, they don't breathe very well so my feet don't smell great after 9 hours at work. I work on concrete in a warehouse and my feet feel way better at the end of the day in these shoes than any other pair I own which is exactly why I bought them. In addition, they seem solidly constructed, have excellent grip and are slip resistant. For work, these are my new go to pair because of what I do for a living. If I had purchased this pair for something else however, I would probably give them a lower rating. For what they are, I love them despite the cons I mentioned. For the price, I feel as though New balance did an excellent job!

Wow, saved my son's job! Much better than Sketchers!
My son started working at Wendy's over the summer, he bought the same Sketchers that my daughter & her boyfriend use at Wendy's. But my son could not stop slipping, to the point his manager was limiting his hours & worried he would hurt himself. Well, he did end up twisting his wrist from a fall. So, we shopped for new shoes & came across reviews online about these so we took a chance! We weren't sure if it was my son or the shoes, honestly, he is a teen boy after all. He noticed immediately how well these worked & is so happy with them. They fit good, might be a slight bit large but not anything to change size for. He loves how they feel, even after a 9 hour shift! & best of all, I don't worry every time he leaves for work that he will hurt himself! Thank you New Balance! We will definitely buy these again!

Great for mountain biking and skateboarding
I purchased these shoes because of the tread, it looked like they would work well with flat pedals. I take 9.5 x wide it's impossible to find a mountain biking specific shoe in x wide. These shoes are great, they grip the pedals well. I bought my 15-year-old a pair in her size and she loves them. They're not super light, nor are they heavy, they're a tough all leather shoe. Update: Almost five years later, these shoes are a bit beat up but the sole shows little wear. Over the summer I started skateboarding (at 61 years old, my wife is not happy). Same problem as mountain biking, no skateboarding specific shoes come in anything but standard sizes, ugh. So I use my trusty V2 626's. I also tried the NB walking shoe 577 v-1 but that shoe feels a little clunky. I've contacted New Balance and explained to them no one is making a wide skate shoe, maybe they could start making their (well-reviewed) skate shoes in wide and x wide? For now I'll continue with the old V2 626's, never knowing how they compare to a "real" skate shoe.

Best 85 bucks I've ever spent. Best 85 bucks you'll ever spend. BUY. THESE. NOW.
So here I was, faced with the proposition of transitioning from a six year long work at home gig to a more traditional job where I'm on my feet all day, bending over and squatting, with the possibility of a lot of overtime right off the bat. I wasn't in bad shape going in. 5'7, 130 pounds, 10% body fat according to a fancy scale that shoots electricity through you. I did body weight workouts at home, and once or twice a week I would take a 2-4 hour walk on a nature trail. But I knew my shoes were an issue, because more often than not I'd come back from those walks with very, very sore feet. Sore toes in particular, with shooting pain and sometimes numbness in them. Not great, right? And that's after just a couple hours. Working from home I'd have plenty of time to recover, so it wasn't a big deal, but I knew I wouldn't have that with this job. Soooo....I did my research and found out a lot of waiters, bartenders, warehouse workers, and kitchen staff love these shoes and said that's good enough for me. Best decision I've ever made. I've never had shoes this comfortable. It's like walking on clouds. The comparison between these shoes and every other pair of shoes I've ever owned is like the comparison between whatever couch you have at home and a concrete slab with a spike strip on it to stop homeless people from sleeping there. The transition period into this job was kinda rough. On my back, my shoulders, my legs. But you know what has been 100% fine? My feet. I am so, so, so happy with this purchase I can't even tell you. About a month after I started the new job we also had a move into a new apartment scheduled, for the first time in about ten years (isn't it weird how big life changes tend to happen all at once?). After the move my girlfriend's feet were killing her in a way they hadn't for years (she has an office job). We were sitting in the aftermath, trying to impose some order on our belongings and get the bed set up and she just couldn't even walk. I had been raving about these shoes every day for the last three weeks, so she asks, "can I try wearing your new balances?" I say sure. She puts them on and, I kid you not, her pain instantly went away. Even though they're not even the right size and too big for her, and even though the damage "had already been done," so to speak, she felt immediate relief. I cannot stress enough how much you need these shoes yesterday. If I had infinite money I would drive around throwing these shoes at random passerby, and after they got over the initial anger at the shoe-shaped imprint left on their forehead they would thank me.

Comfortable for my wide feet
I've been using them for work shoes. Comfortable and wide enough for my feet. Size US 13wide.

Best work shoe I've ever bought
Update: the second pair that I bought is definitely not the same quality as before. The soles are deteriorating after a month of use. Very disappointed. I'll be surprised if they last another 3 months at this rate. Bought in Feb. 2017. This review is after 15 months of use. Before I bought this shoe, I would have to rotate all my shoes daily for work cause they'd get drenched and get gross. These shoes quickly became my only shoe that I'd wear to work. 5 nights a week behind the bar. These shoes would get spilled on with beer, water, and sugary drinks almost daily. They dont look ridiculous like some other restaurant non-slip work shoes; I even wear them out casually since they are just a very plain black shoe, which I love. Finally after 15 months of abuse they are showing the wear. I'm amazed they lasted this long. The sole is still fully attached but there are some tears beginning to form. Just look at the attached pictures to see the effects of 2400+ hours of getting drenched and roughly 1200 miles of walking (to and from work and the back and forth behind the bar) I added insoles to them just cause standing all day I think warrants a nice gel insole, although they were comfortable without new insoles. Overall a great value and I just ordered another pair. Hopefully they are as good and last as long as the old pair. Will update this review after using the new pair for awhile. I hope some of these recent negative reviews dont mean that NB lowered their quality standards...

Extra wide is not (enough)
I have bought XW NB sneakers in the US in the past and they are very comfortable ( I need real XW size.) These NB shoes I ordered on Amazon.de are too narrow and not stretching in the area of the lowest part of where the shoe laces are situated; this puts too much pressure on the big toes. Accordingly, I cannot wear these shoes.

Good work shoes at a reasonable price point.
I purchased these shoes for doing yard work. I wanted something fairly light but sturdy, with a rubber sole and leather upper (keep dirt and moisture out, but still 'breath' a bit). I did research and narrowed my choice to 2 alternatives, and purchased the New Balance 626 V2, although it was higher price than the alternative shoes. They are a 'true to size' fit for me, comfortable and sturdy. At first, they felt a bit stiff, but I am used to softer, flexible runners and casual foot wear, so the feel of these shoes was not unexpected, especially since I wanted something sturdy for yard work. Overall they felt quite comfortable, and less stiff, within about 1 hour of wear while working in the yard. I am very satisfied with this product -- good design and fabrication job on this one New Balance.
